Achieve Something Real! Real Life Achievements
We've all spent countless hours unlocking achievements on xbox 360 or ps3...Well now there are achievements for REAL LIFE!
http://achievesomethingreal.com/ I think my favorite is: -Upsy Daisy- Leapfrog an unsuspecting midget in public. Its a user interactive site, the users vote win or fail on the story of how you achieved an achievement, and users can suggest new achievements, etc. Personally, I suggested and Adventure section for things like geocaching, hiking, etc. |
I'm considering signing up... how would I word my swordchuckery?
Edit- I voted for about 5 min strait while thinking "Wow, most of these are about fapping?" and then I realized they were all being submitted by the same user. |

I might give this try. It sounds kinda fun to do.

When I read the title of this thread, I was reminded of a project I thought about doing a while ago. See, I'd go to low-traffic areas (graveyards, the top of parking decks, various bathrooms, alleys, fire escapes, etc.) and leave print-outs along the lines of
You've found a secret flag! 1 of 30 Good job! See, it would give the people who found them some sense of mystery along with a thing to say to their friends. "Hey, I found this weird message. What do you think?" But then, like all my interesting plans, I figured I'd eventually be arrested for terrorism or something and gave it up. Same reason I never floated a banana through campus carried by a swarm of tethered bees. But this thread and that site aren't about that, and having to sign up for it squashes my enthusiasm. |
Yeah, just the ones on the front page seem... dangerous and illegal? Really, just no. I'd like to LIVE to achieve something. Like something real. Like finishing one of my games, or getting my BS.

Also, this makes me think of previous forum achievement threads.
This looks kind of terrible.
Yes, I like "completing" game challenges and getting more points added to my profile now and again, but mostly it's silly video game fun. These seem to be fairly terrible, and real life doesn't really need grind... Admittedly I only took a quick stroll through some of the users listed on the front page. They could just be terrible people who made dumb achievements. |

It took me a while to notice but those achievements are like 15% boys only, 10% Americans only, 30% drunken stupor and 50% 4chan. This could be fun if it attempted like, covering a wider spectrum of life. And wasn't a popularity contest.
