Generic RP: Chapter 1 - The Undead Migration

Deep in the human territory, a recent migration of Undead was seen. Their target and purpose are unknown, but the Allies know that when they reach the destination, bad things would happen. Luckily for the Allies, Undead were slow and predictable.
So, a force was sent to build a blockage and kill the Undead when they arrived.

Kelen the Destroyer was the leader of the force. Josmir Banakneha was sent with him, and he took a group of hand picked heroes to join him.

They were sent of force of 200 *workers, 300 archers, 500 fighters, 100 **dragoons, 100 mages, and 200 ***white mages. Along with those troops, 700 pounds of stone, 500 pounds of steel, and 300 pounds of wood were sent with them. The Undead has an estimated 1500 forces, mainly all undead humans. However, Undead tended to pop up as they go along.

The group of heroes sat in a large tent in the middle of the camp, making out their plans of defense against the coming Undead. Josmir had scouting the surrounding area, and drew a map of it (Pretend the map is good).

Jos had informed the group of how the trees were close together to the north and east, so a large migration through them was unlikely. The south and west however had larger spaces through the trees, and a main natural path in the trees, most likely made by Ogres a long time ago, then maintained by the animals of the forest. The main path made by humans ran from southeast to northwest, and would be the largest place for passage.

The Allies only had to stop a large portion of the Undead, not all of them. As long as the main force was taken out, any town could fend off the rest.

OOC: Basically, the group has to decide on how to make the defense and what do to. Oh, and Kelen is in charge, but the troops are usually seperated between the heroes, so if one hero is not happy, he may just leave and take his troops. I'll give troop numbers later. But, Kelen has the most, Jor has the next highest (Most of the white mages as well), and the rest are evenly distributed between the rest.

*workers – Carpenters, black smith, diggers, any manual labor these guys are trained in.

**dragoons – Not FF dragoons, real one. Big guys covered in armor with claymores to take out large numbers of enemies.

***white mages – The most valuable people in the Ally army,

Kelen studied the map intensely.

"Burn... burn it all down..."

He continued murmuring to himself as he traced the paths on the map.

"Yama find undead are brittle. Bashing weapons good against on dead."

Dante 05-09-2004 07:33 PM

"That is correct."

Kelen looked up to the big ogre.

"In any case, the undead outnumber us, so we must hope that they are indeed as mindless as they appear to be and channel them into where their numbers will be meaningless... You can smash them very well, right? "

"Yama can handle 30 on his own." Yama straightened his belt and walked out. He barked commands at his Dragoons. The heavilly armored ogres placed under his command balked.

"We no work for unarmored, weaponless, pretty boy human slave." A lead ogre said in the human toungue. He was a leathery looking creature unlike the mostly human looking Yama.

Yama didn't speak. With a quickness that years of unfettered fighting brought Yama reached out with one of his gauntleted hand smashed his fist into the Dragoons face. The ogre fell over from the blow spitting blood and teeth.

"Anyone else want to question my position of dominance?" Yama barked in the language of the ogres. The other ogres turned and moved to ready for combat, as did his other charges. Yama helped the wounded Dragoon to his feet. "Move out Soldier."

OOC: Forgot to mention. We have 1-2 weeks before the Undead will reach us. Once the plans are made, time skips.

OOC: Could I handle the calvary situation? I.E. Have a group of mounted samurai with me?

IC: Ken studied the map. "Perhaps archery?"

Shard stood next to Kelen. His face, pale and flacid, was a mask of torment and rage. A glowing, silver fire burned behind his white eyes.

As he studied the map, he ran a dagger along the palm of his hand. It would bleed, he would feel a sting, and then the wound would seal leaving no traces of it ever being cut.

A dull, raspy groan escaped his lips with every breath he exhaled.

OOC: No calvary, but your 100 soldiers can be samurai mostly.

IC:

"I don't think buring the trees is a good idea... The animals will have no place to live, and the Undead will have nothing to stop them." Josmir commented on Kelen's murmering.

Then Ken made his suggestiong. "Where will the archers go? We would need to build towers for them to be safe, but where to build them?"

Darth SS 05-09-2004 08:09 PM

Ken glanced at Shard. "Words cannot express how disconcerting that is."

He looked back to the map. "Well, that's an interesting question. The original idea would be to position them evenly around."

Rubbing his jaw, he pointed to four point on the map. "Cluster two on each point. Then, around our back, we make one at each similar point. Then, we seal the breach by moving in between those points at the front, and moving back 20 yards, and make one tower there. That gives the initial archers chance to kill what they can, then when they reach that, the other archers open fire, giving clearance and breathing space for our ground troops."

Then he shrugged. "Or we make a volley fire line behind our initial line. But that leaves the chance of the undead breaking our ground troops and killing the archers because they don't have towers."
