There's a game me and my friends like to play we call "warthog wars". It's set on FFA, and when the game starts, everyone tries to get into a warthog. When you get in a wathog, you head for the middle and ram into the other warthogs, attempting to flip them. Everyone who's not in a warthog heads for the middle and tries to get runover. If you run over someone that wasn't in a warthog, you have to die. The purpose is to tip over the other people's warthogs over and kill them, not the people without warthogs. If you are runover in a round where you didn't get a warthog, you get the warthog of the person that ran you over.

On sidewinder, if you go down the tunnel next to the bases, you'll find that cage-like barrier under which sits the over shield and active camo. If you park a ghost or warthog right next to it, you can get in from the other side and pass through the bars. Helpful for CTF returns.

Well, if he really is a big wide open space guy, he's bound to pick both sidewinder and bloodgulch alot. At sidewinder, watch for a spot high up next to the bases that can be used to snipe people. He'll probably be pistol sniping most the time, so as long as you run around in a fairly hectic manner, he won't get you that well.

Once again, if he is a wide open space guy, that means he's going to stay in the field. So, always try to take a back route. Theres one on the right perimeter on bloodgulch and on sidewinder, and both give excellent cover. Experienced players might flood these ways too, but hopefully all the action will be happening on the field, and you can sneak around. Both these paths lead to the back of the enemy's base, at least if you're blue team (quick tip: blue team rules, they always have the best position). Well, you probably know these maps anyways, just don't forget their usefulness.

I haven't tried this, and it really is cheap if it works, but you could always go for the bunny technique. In other words, overuse the jump button. Some people think jumping up and down make you harder to hit, I don't know, I think its just stupid, but I'm just trying to think of all the tips I got.

In the end, just do what goes with what the rest of the team is doing. On a few off chances, like when everyone is in the middle of the field at blood gulch, grab another one of your guys and take a side path, or stay to one side of the perimeter. Good chances no one will catch you if all the action is going on in the field. Sorry that I can't be much help, I mostly just try to act on what I see. Don't always run for vehicles, they're easy targets and someone could kill you pretty easily when you're running for a ghost in the middle of the field. Otherwise, vehicular homicide, while very evil, has always been my favorite. Damn pedestrians.

Wish I had more info...

Since you'll be playing on Blood Gulch with full vehicles, I shall let you in on a little discovery I made. The 3 vehicles most easily coordinate to rock, paper, and scissors, where 1 can conquer another, will lose to another, and will tie to another (exception: tank v. tank.) Now Ghost=Paper Tank=Rock Warthog=Scissors. When a ghost attacks the tank, his plasma will slow down the tank, so the cannon cannot trace the ghost and shoot him, thus letting the ghost win. The tank can blow the crap outta the warthog, so the tank wins. Here is the interesting thing, when in a warthog, ram a ghost as hard as you can. Typically, it will spin in mid-air for awhile and land face-down, knocking out the driver. If you're quick, you can run over the bugger quickly enough.

But warthogs can flip tanks.
And ghosts make the warthog's gunner just as useless as a tank turret.

I also recommend playing the level "Longest" with rocket launchers only. Add that to my list above.

If someone in a tank would let a warthog even get close, they're not very observant. Ghosts usually have the advantage against the warthog, except the gun will rip through it too fast for you to respond. Tanks are too slow and easily targetable. I preder to scout through the area on foot on the sides, taking out snipers along the way.

He did say he was playing on a LAN. You can't look everywhere.
That, and, as I mentioned previously, I'm encouraging playing the video game but not actually playing the game. It leads to more fun, or at least can.

Thanks for the tips, guys.

A few friends and I once tried to flip a warthog over one of the Blood Gulch bases, and it just ended up as a rocket launcher fragfest after a few minutes, since they'd keep "accidentally" shooting each other...still fun, tho.
