What Videogame Creature Scares/Freaks You The Most?

There comes a time when we run into different games that we cross something that just scares the bajeezes out of you are just plain freaks you out. Well, maybe we do... but that's sort of why we expand our variety in games.

Anyways, I was always freaked out from those Dead Hand creatures in Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I think it's a phobia of long-necked monsters or something..

The original Silent Hill. I played it in the dark in the witching hour and I still have nightmares of Knife weilding midgets in the dark. You'd hear your radio go off and you'd be spinning trying to find the enemy as it slowly creeps up on you from behind...

Those hands from the Zelda series. I would see my shadow grow larger, and becme frghtened.

Also, Metroids. Getitoffgetitoffgetitoffgetitoffgetitoff!

I'd have to say the things from the second Resident Evil, but thats just because it was the only survival horror I played besides DMC (which doesnt really count since you are the scariest thing out there). I was playing at my friends house and it was around 1am and his parents were gone and we were like 7 years old. Scary sh*t.

Yeah, I don't know many people who would consider DMC a survival-horror game. It's much more straight-forward action.

Any enemies over your level in the Dragon Warrior 1 game scared me horribly much. I remember running A LOT during that game.

Back when I was 4 or 5 and playing Zelda, I used to have convusions of fear when those hands would come out of the walls. How my imagination wandered about...

The original Resident Evil was pretty scary when it first came out. I was totally NOT expecting to be trapped in a mansion with little to no ammo running from zombies. I also was only 11 or 12 at the time. Also happened to be a story summer night when I played it for the first time, lightning in the background and left home alone and everything.

I was young when I first played Doom.
My computer was in the basement, which was unfinished and dark.
It made the game more fun, though.

I think Silent Hill takes the cake. They did a good job with that one. Maybe some of the Resident Evil zombies, due to my hatred and irrational fear of zombies.

Oh geez...the Remade Hairy Tarranchulas from the GC Remake of Resident Evil 1. Thefirst one I saw was when I walked into the Pool room in the large shack and they show a camera angle behind you with the Spider walking down the cealing about to walk on the door. I freaked and insintively made Jill turn around and go out the door. I just stood there for a while my back crawlled for a few minutes. It was BAD. Had to take out the Gernade Launcher and just use some Acid Shells on them because I couldn't stand to look at them move. Turns out Acid shells work really good on those Spiders.

Seriously, it was more scary than anything I've ever seen. That Spider looks more real than anything in a video game I've ever seen! And it just had to be a SPIDER!!! If I knew I was going to see a 20 foot spider in the game, I wouldn't have bought it (but so glad I did). Aside from the giant Spiders, I love the game (one of my favorite games).

Yeah, definitely the giant sipders in the resident evil games. I totally agree with Ken here.

Those things scare the shit outo f me.

Though it was always terrifying when William/Tyrant/Nemesis would just pop out of nowhere and attack, or crawl by overhead or something. *shivers*

Drake the Dark 05-10-2004 06:27 AM

Head Crabs from Half-Life, and pretty much any baddie from Shadow Man. Also, a lot of the stuff in Undying is horrifically nightmarish, but that's expected in a Clive Barker project.

Those are the only three games that have ever scared the shiznit out of me. I was even fine with Resident Evil and Doom and such. It just goes to prove that good graphics don't necessarily make for better games, since all of those are older games with semi-crappy graphics. :p

....what scares me is that they made Shadow Man 2...the creepiness of Shadow Man with the power of PS2. I'll be playing that one with the lights on and lots of candles on hand. *whimper in fear*
