Cures for the Summertime Boredom

Really, when you get down to it, summer can be kinda boring. You spend 9 or so months constantly working and busting your ass in college, and then, suddenly... Nothing. This relief of pressure kind of makes you feel restless and stuff without it. I mean, chilling is good and all for about a week, but after that... bleh.

So, what do you all do to take that edge off of the boredom?

I myself am going to try to take up a craft. Knitting, actually. I figured it'd be a neat thing to do. (I'm up for suggestions to do once I get my skills up to snuff).

I'm studying the whole summer.

I'm already bored.

I intend to read Fyodor Dostoyevsky's Brothers Karamazov and Philip K. Dick's Valis, especially the latter since I want to use it in a writing assignment next year.

I'll also catch up on some personal creative writing, so furthering previous hobbies mostly I guess.

I always have a project of some sort going on, whether it's for school or just personal so... actually I am very very rarely bored.

Yay for art!

I might have my own personal project for the summer as well. If ya'll know what I mean, wink wink.

Games, games, and more games. On my summer schedule for this year are the following...

Okami
Majora's Mask
MGS Portable Ops
MGS2
Metal Gear 2: Snake's Revenge
Alan Wake
Nier
Record of Agarest War
Persona 3 Portable
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Metroid: Other M

And probably about fifty or so games that have just skipped my mind for the moment.

Oh yeah and I guess I'll probably be finishing Lufia 2 yay me.

I used to find video games did a good job, but more and more I find myself getting burned out on video games rather quickly. I'm lucky if they can hold up to a week of sustained playing before I get fairly burned out. Doesn't matter if it's the same game or I switch them up. Which is a shame, it maes getting through games like Fallout 3 a real pain :-P

I find this becomes less of a problem as I play an increased number of games at once. I mean, it's becoming very hard to play any more MGS games because I am seriously burned out on that shit, but then I just play Ocarina of Time for a little while, and by the time I'm done with that I'm good for some stealth action.

I'm working two jobs this summer.

Joy.

Heh, you think it's boring now try not being able to find work after graduating college. Being unemployed is the pits.

But during school I always did internships that involved my major. I'm not sure if that'll work for what ever you're studying, but it's always worth a shot. Heck if you line them up right you might even get to travel a little bit.
