Cyber Wars Ch10: Invasion of the body switchers
 

Jade had found a helicopter with relative ease and had ushered Monk into it while explaining to him exactly what he said wrong. "Don't ever say that again!!" She programmed the autopilot to track Wolf's signal and called his PDA. "Cavalry's coming Wolf, we'll be there soon."

The General's call was redirected from Jade to the great imposter.

"House of myrth and madness." Coyote answered when the window opened. It was a force of habbit.

"Jade!!!" The general yelled.

"General." Coyote batted her eyelashes at the general.

"Don't you General me. I'll have you court marshalled if you don't get your squad under controll."

"No you won't"
"YES I WILL!!!"
"No."
"YES!"

"YES!"
"Yes."
"NO!"
"Yes."
"NO!"
"Yes."
"NO!"
"Yes."
"NO! And that's final." The general yelled but he was looking confused.

"Don't worry General everything is under control." There was a sudden peel of lightning and it started to rain on Coyote.

"What was that explosion!?!"

"Bloody weather." Coyote whispered in his normal voice.

Angel slept. He dreamt a bit. It wasn't pleasant.

Amongst the carnage, Wolf heard his PDAP beep. It was Jade, telling him help was on the way. Oddly enough, there was no video image.

Hmm...too much interference maybe. Wolf thought as he turned back to the raging battle. The enemy troops had more or less surrounded the cave entrance, keeping their distance in case of more grenades...even though Wolf was out.

"If you give up now we'll go easy on you!" the Captain shouted.

"Bullshit!" Wolf shouted back "You just want to wipe my mind and turn me into a soulless zombie! Well you ain't gonna get a chance, asshole!" Wolf fired a round from one of his .45s, catching the Captain in the skull, dropping him dead.

"The next shithead who tries something funny gets the same!" Wolf said just before he hacked up more blood. Oh God...please let Jade get here soon. he thought clutching his chest. Katlin looked concerned for his rapidly deteriorating condition, but Wolf managed to crack a small grin.

"Don't worry...Jade just called...help is on the way."

I just need to live until then

Mastermind sent directions to all his remaining troops.

"We already know MacKenzie is wounded badly...let him bleed to death...then get Miss Vong."

The troops remained at their positions, determined to let Wolf die a slow and painful death.

Jade turned to Monk in the copter. "We're almost there. Do you think you can fight in my body?"

Coyote was soaking wet.

"Is that rain?"

"No we're having a party and I'm in a wet t-shirt contest." Coyote said sarcastically.

"ARE YOU DRUNK!" The General screamed.

"Everything's under control, situation normal..."

"WHAT HAPPENED?"

"...Had a slight weapons malfunction, but everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine, we're all fine here now, thankyou. How are you?"

"I'm sending a squad up"

"Ah, negative, negative, we have a reactor leak here now. Give us a few minutes to lock it down. Large leak, very dangerous."

"YOU AREN'T JADE! WHO IS THIS!?! WHAT'S YOUR OPERATING NUMBER!?!" The general yelled. Coyote closed the window and reverted back to normal, at least normal for him. "Boring conversation anyway."

He dialed up Monk.

"Jade! We're gonna have company!"

OOC: Sorry people, posting may become slowed over at my end. I'd rather not talk about it much...

Monk smiled at Jade's comment. "Actually, you're body isn't much different than mine. It has a little less strength and reach, but it won't take too long to get used to it." He shifted in place a little. "However, I don't feel so..." He chose his words carefully, not wanting to get killed, "Areodynamic. Is that the word I want? Am I allowed to say that?"

That's when a PDAP beeped. He reached into his hip pocket, praying that it wasn't the general again. "Jade! We're gonna have company!"

"We are?" Monk gave Coyote an odd look.

"You stay out of it. I'm talking to your boyfriend."

With the enemy troops hunkered down, Katlin had little trouble crossing the cave over to where Wolf lay. She grabbed the filed survival kit and took out the gause banadges.

"Let's see if we can get you patched up." she said as she wrapped a bangage around the wound on Wolf's left arm. Wolf flinched slightly at the pain, but other than that showed no signs of discomfort.

"You only have to hold out a little longer." she said as she bandaged up his wounded leg.

"I know..." Wolf said through pain clenched teeth. "It's just a matter of how long 'a little longer' is." He slowly moved to remove his trenchcoat and camoflauge jacket. "Tell me how bad the wound in my chest is."

Katlin helped him undo his flak jacket. She inspected the wound. "Well, it's a through and through...and the bleeding doesn't seem as bad as it should be."

"It's the nanomachines...they've been keeping me alive for this long...but I'm afraid if I push them any further they're going to kill me...it's sapped a lot of my energy as it is..." He started coughing again.

"Look...you should rest..."

Wolf sat up painfully as he redid his flak jacket and service jacket. "I can't rest...they could attack again...I refuse to die asleep...or under an assumed name. Hand me my dog tags...they're in the jacket I gave you."

Katlin pulled the dog tags out of the pocket. "Here you go." she handed them to him.

Wolf put the tags around his neck, alongside the tags he had been wearing for the past 5 years...the ones with only his code name and blood type. "People will look back on this day and know that it was Jason MacKenzie and Katlin Vong who stopped over 700 over Mastermind's finest from killing them, as well as crippling Mastermind's operations in the Northeast US." he said proudly as he readied his M16, heedless of any pain he may have felt.

"I guess they never fully acquitted you."

"No...but now they'll have to."

"Aerodynamic?" Jade didn't realize what Monk was saying and then it hit her. "Oh, I see. I never really thought about it. Work around it I guess cause we're almost there. I'm going to land us a short distance away so not to attract...attention...oh my god." Jade surveyed the scene below her. There were bodies strewn everywhere and the remainder of the forces were bunkered down behind some rocks and pointing their weapons at a small cave. Probably where Wolf and Kaitlin were. She couldn't believe the sheer amount of dead bodies thrown along the mountainside. Two people did all this? Her PDA beeped with Coyote telling them that there would be company. She reached for the PDA, "Coyote stall them or something, we're too far in to come back now." Setting the helicopter down, she armed herself with her katana and gun, as well as a pack of extra guns for Kaitlin and Wolf. She looked at Monk, "I'm assuming you won't be carrying any weapons. Try not to bang up my body so much, I'd like to use it again." She opened the back door and made her way to the cave. Apparently the soldiers weren't paying any attention to them, they were more concerned with their own dwindling forces; patching up the wounded and the like. As Jade entered the cave she called out, "Wolf! Kaitlin! Are you there?"
