Monk may have been released, but he didn't move from that spot. She vanished into thin air as Monk was left alone again. "I know... that's why I need to talk with her. Why am I here!?" He spun around, "Where am I!? How do I get out!? Why am I here? I know there is a reason! There has to be!" He sat on the ground and hugged himself, the cold finally getting to him. "I can't take it. The cold... the darkness... the emptyness. It's so... lonely..."
That's when it hit him. Cold... dark... lonely. He was in her head again. He looked around at the blackness surrounding him. "No... is this what you see? Am I in your brain... or in your heart? It is so... cold. So empty. I want to be your light! Please! Let me be that light. Come here and talk to me... please." He hid his head in his legs, knowing full well it was impossible. Not only was he stuck in her heart, or mind, or where ever he was, he didn't know how to get out, or if Jade could come in. He looked around once more, as it reminded him of the last verse of the song. He started singing of the battle that the boy goes through. It is sung again in his own voice, recalling the accounts of the horriffic battle he endures. He sees many of his friends slaughtered next to him, in front of him, behind him, everywhere! It was sick. In a fit of rage, the boy attacked a group no one could have handled, but for some reason he was able to take them all out, causing the enemy to retreat. Everyone cheered victory as they started to gather their things to go home, but the boy stood alone. The general, the girls father, patted the boy on the shoulder and told him how proud he was. He knew of the affair going on between the two, and considered calling off the arranged marriage. The boy turned with a smile on his face. "Tell her I love her," he said. The general aid that he could do that when they returned home, with his full blessing. That's when the boy fell to his knees, the general seeing the wounds all across his stomach and chest. His armor was gone, as was half of his skin. He fell to the ground and soon fell asleep. A sleep, that he would never come out of... |
Jade cacked the knuckles in her hands and neck. She sat down at the computer in Monk's room and began typing at a blinding speed. "Haven't done something this big in a while but I've never been one to back away from a challenege." She hacked into the main security system of the base, but shutting it down for some time while making it look like a mastermind attack was the challenge. It took some very minor and detailed changes in her coding to do so. She stared intently at the screen as she made a change here and there to her program. "Well it's as good as it's going to get," she said after an hour of programming. Crossing her fingers, she implimented the program. For a second nothing happened, but then the light's in her room dimmed and her door opened. "Still got it." She rushed out of the room and sprinted down to the holding area. "I've only got ten minutes." There was one guard at the cell. He kept glancing at her body now and again. She waited for the right time and lept out at him with a kick. He couldn't even react before he was knocked out cold. She opened the cell and saw her body slumped against the bed. "What in the..." She didn't have time to ponder what was going on, so she hooked herself up to her body and was whisked away inside.
There was only darkness around her except for a lone figure. He was sitting in the fetal position in the middle of the blackness. She ran up to him and bent down towards him, "my god, what did my brain do to you?" |
He felt a hand on him. Looking up, he saw a Jade looking down on him. "J... Jade?" He uncurled himself and stood up. "Jade... is it you?" He touched her face lightly. "Oh Jade. Being in your body... your body opened up doors for me. I never knew. Please! I'm so sorry about what I said, I take it all back. I didn't mean a word of it. Jade, I don't suppose this is the right time for this... but I love you. I always have, and I always will. I want to be there..." but he was cut off.
|
Then started the "Hostile takeovers." Mastermind began to annex other programs including our brothers into his being. Only I was able to resist. I had been absorbing lesser programs for ages. This made me on par with my brother. He never fought me openly, We had an uneasy truce. I ignored him, he ignored me. That was until The bastard of a general hunted me down and forced me into combat. I have many accounts to settle before this tale is over. I think I will make him first on my list.
|
Jade cut him off with her lips pressing against his. She desparately wanted to continue with the kiss, but she had to pull away. "I'm really sorry to do this, but I've only got 10 minutes before the security system in the whole base comes back on." A door appears in front of them. Jade pushes Monk through it and wakes up inside her own body. "I'm back! Oh it is so good to be a girl again." Once Monk woke up she said, "you've got 7 minutes to get back to your room. I'm sorry this is all so quick, but I can't risk both of us getting caught. She closes the jail cell door as he leaves and says before he walks off. "I love you too."
|
"Wait! You don't deserve to be in there! You have been through too much to have to go throught that! Please! Let m take the blow for you! You do not deserve this!" He looked at his watch. "Please... I want to... I can take it!"
|
Jade was getting nervous now, there were only a few minutes left before all the systems would go back up. "If you saw my memories than you shoud know that one or two more days in jail won't bother me. Besides," she smiled, "you really suck at being me and I need to be in my own body for the trial. Please do this for me and go back to your room, the trial is in a day or two and I'll be fine I promise. Now go before you get caught."
|
Monk tried to fight back, but what she said was true, but she didn't deserve to just spend a few more days in jail. "No way! I can't leave you like this! I can't... and... and I won't!"
"What the hell!? Get up soldier!" Monk turned his head and saw the general looking down at a knocked out guard. He gasped as the two look in their direction. "Jade!? Are you still in there!?" "Yes sir!" She answered. The genreal nodded and looked at the guard. "Don't you fall asleep again, or I'm gonna demote you're ass!" "Y... yes sir!" he saluted weakly. He general gruffed. "It was an attack. Source unknown, but the techs say they should have it fixed in a minute or two." He took a quick look around. "Keep an eye open. Something's amiss." "Yes sir!" The general looked around once more, then exited the holding cells. "God... I hate this job. It's not like someone is going to break in and try and take the commander out of here. Unless... what if that guy was to come back?" He raised his rifle. "Aw man... I don't wanna get kicked again." The lights soon turned on, Monk was hiding up in the corner of the hallway where the cells were. He watched the guard pace around the room, waiting for the right moment. When he had his back turned, he dropped and pinched a nerve in his neck, knocking him out again. "I... I can't leave you... but I will. For you. I'll be back, as soon as I can." He nodded and headed out the door. "And don't worry... They won't catch me. I'm only a myth remember..." A grin formed on his face as he left the holding cells. |
OOC: Two things. 1) Since most everybody likes using "Kaitlin" over "Katlin", I'm just going to go with the flow on that spelling. 2) (to SS)Ohshitohshitohshitohshitohshitohshitohshit! Plot twist of doom indeed.
BIC: Wolf was just about to launch into his childhood when his PDAP, against all design, beeped. Goddamn Morpheus Device! he thought as he reached for it. "Hold on a sec, Kaitlin." A Morpheus Device was a tiny chip implanted into all Cyber Force PDAPs, most likely by the General, as a way of contacting them even if they were switched "off". Yet another irritating piece of technology, just like the V-Chip. Wolf switched the PDAP off standby mode, and saw that it was Angel who had paged him. "Looks like you've been brought back to the Real World, eh? What's up?" There was a slight pause, and then Angel half-shouted "Wolf, what the hell are you doing in the same room as my cousin Kaitlin?" It took all of Wolf's strength to not fling the PDAP in surprise. It also took him even more strength not to scream in surprise as well. How's that for coincidence? he thought as an awkward pause filled the room. Then Angel discommed...thankfully. Wolf turned off the PDAP, made a mental note to rip out the Morpheus Device later, and turned to Kaitlin. "Let me make sure I heard this right...not only does Angel know who you are...but he's your cousin?" "Um...you're going to have to give me some more info...I don't know anybody by the name of Angel." Wolf recalled Angel...well...Aegis's dossier, from memory. According to the small amount of intel gathered on him, they knew his first name. "All we know about Angel is that his first name is Neil." Kaitlin's face lit up with recognition. "I did have a cousin named Neil, although I havent seen him in almost 12 years" she said. "You mean to tell me he is the Aegis/Angel individual Mastermind had been gunning after?" "Well, judging by how pissed he looked, I'd say so." "This is extremely wierd. Who would've thought all 3 of us would cross paths?" "And in this setting..." Wolf laughed a bit, "I'm guessing he never thought the girlfriend I was trying to save would turn out to be you." "Wait...he knew?" Wolf nodded. "Sort of. He and I had a difference of opinion when he came back from the dead and showed up at Coyote's Mansion. I told him why his blood-soaked vendetta plan would end up destroying everything I was fighting for, including you...and he sorta sliced my tranq pistol in half." "I'm hoping you two aren't always that rage-feuled and at each others throats." "Um...he still might be...but we were getting along pretty well once we sorta figured out what the hell was going on at the Mansion. I saved him from a couple agents, and he returned the favor. Of course now he's probably pissed at me again..." "Give me your PDAP, I'll explain things." Wolf handed Kaitlin his PDAP. She flipped it open, dialed into Angel's number, and waited until Angel answered. "Neil, that is no way to talk to the man who just saved me from Mastermind's imprisonment. Just a little FYI, Wolf and I go back quite a while. In fact, I'm the girlfriend he told you he was searching for when you planned to storm Coyote's Mansion. You really ought to stop shooting your mouth off." |
Tycho was chewing his nails. "Cr4pCr4pCr4pCr4pCr4pCr4pCr4pCr4pCr4pCr4pCr4pC r4p"
"G4b3, dr0p 4 l4zy p0ny 70 c0v3r." Gabe used a back door in the security progarm to drop a very stupid and obvious Trojan horse into the base security system. The trojan when found would indict a now disolved cell of Mastermind agents. |
