"Wow. Kaitlin! Long time no see...this is really awkward. Hold up for a moment, I'll be coming down."
"But I thought you were confined to quarters." "Heh...general hasn't seen me in the real world. And as I'm still registered as a cyber agent, then I can't be brought up on any charges until he changes that designation." Angel turned his PDAP off, and started to walk to the door. He paused briefly, grabbing a white lab-coat and a pair of sunglasses. Just in case. No one recgonized him in the halls. So, he was able to get to Wolf's quarters pretty easily. The fact that no one suspected someone in a lab coat to be someone accused of killing about a hundred or two people. He reached Wolf's quarters, got inside, and blinked to make sure that he wasn't seeing things horrible wrong. He glanced at Wolf. "This is really awkward. I guess on the grounds that we've now got common ground, we may as well try to keep from going berserk on each other. DON'T ANSWER YET." Quickly, he grabbed a chair, sat down, and made sure he was comfortable. "Okay, brief explanation. From the top now. And don't mind the scalpel. Old habit." |
ooc: ss, you really have a problem following orders don't you. BG is going to fry your ass if you aren't careful.
|
OOC: I only realized it when I was writing that post. It is a valid point. Angel is pretty fresh out of the Cyber World, so it's pretty unlikely that anyone will recgonize him. And assuming that there's some form of organizaiton on everyone, Angel would be marked down as a program in the cyber world so he can't be "technically" charged. It's seriously pressing his luck, but aside from that, he's more or less in line. That, and most judges would hopefully understand the "cousin I haven't seen in TEN YEARS" thing.
|
OOC: Angel would be able to get about the base for exactly the same reason as Kaitlin. Nobody really knows who they are.
Somehow I don't feel safe hearing someone say 'don't mind the scalpel'...but whatever. Wolf thought as he began explaining everything. "All right. 5 years ago, when I was still known as Jason MacKenzie, Kaitlin and I were in the same ROTC unit and class at West Point. Through our common interersts, namely firearms, we took an almost immediate likeing to each other and started dating." "Which wasn't that easy to do, seeing as how conservative the US Army is." "True..." Wolf said. "Anyways our ROTC squad got sent to China during the Communist collapse and subsequent power struggle. We weren't supposed to see real combat, but we had to get called into patrol an area of suspected rebel activity. The 'rebels' turned out to be Mastermind forces that ambushed our squad." "Jason didn't know it at the time, but Mastermind had tricked me and subverted my mind. He found out though once I shot him in the leg, however, and then Mastermind taunted him." Wolf winced slightly at the rememberance of that old wound, then picked up the story. "I was the only survivor of the ambush, and the CIA tried to court-martial me for it in some bizarre conspiracy theory. I was acquitted, and yet not everyone believed my innocence. So I decided to leave. The night I was leaving, Mastermind tried to recruit me. I shot his recruiters in the head and ran like hell, establishing my current identity in the process. I spent 3 years traveling the world as a mercenary attached to an Australian SpecForces unit, until I got an email from Kaitlin, telling me that she was still alive, and needed my help. I then switched fronts, fighting alongside Japanese SpecForces, and finally Michael Knight's FLAG forces. Then I found out about Cyber Force...and I joined up. You pretty much know most of what's happened in the past few days, sans your death...except for the fact that Kaitlin had been forced into being a general by Mastermind and sent to Coyote's Mansion in an effort to either kill me, capture me, or make me kill her...which would lead to my death or capture." Kaitlin shuddered a bit. "Fortunately, I managed to keep Mastermind from making me kill him, and he knocked me out...sparing us both from death." "It also allowed Beowulf to find Kaitlin's RW location." Wolf said. "This lead to me staging a rogue op yesterday in which I broke into the facility where she was being held, fought Agent Smithinator, rescued Kaitlin, got shot down in the Appalachians, and had to hold out against 700 enemy soldiers until Jade and Monk, plus some FLAG troops, came and rescued us. I sustained heavy injuries from that battle, which explains why I am currently in my bed right now." "And I'm here because I was worried about him...and also the General didn't know who I was, so it was easy to sneak in." Wolf nodded. "So...do we have an understanding of what's going on?" he asked Angel. |
ooc: Oh you've done it now. You will be destroyed. The explosion will be of tremendous magnitude...
It takes awhile. |
"More or less. Okay, now for lovely little Angel catch up time."
He leaned back, absently twirling the scalpel. "Lets see...last time I saw Kaitlin was after I'd been shot twice and almost lost use of my legs..." Quickly, he organized everything and decided what was important. "Okay, I dropped Med, topped Comp Sci. Went backpacking around Europe. Met a girl named Mary in Switzerland. Eventually was going to marry her." His memory got extremely fuzzy around there, but he forced it into perspective and was surprised by what he recalled. "Married her. Worked for two years on the anti-cyber force program called Aegis. Eventually Mastermind decided he wanted it. Badly. He had everyone I worked with killed. I barely managed to bind it into my mind, then fled to the cyberworld. Torched his initial attack, and basically ran for about a year straight. Then Jade found me...I was prone to hot-gunning...remember that freak limo accident Wolf? God that was fun. But anyways, worked with Jade for a year, decided to assault an extremely heavily guarded Cyber World fortress, and turned it into a seive. Coyote backstabbed me and unloaded one of the dampeners on Aegis, and after I got the program I basically exploded. Was dead for about two days until the Undelete command came into effect, after which I was reborn as two different Angels that swapped bodies. Delete and Undelete respectively. Spent a bit catching up to Jade, seriously messed my own coding up...got into an argument with Wolf, had to run eventually from Mastermind, almost got killed THREE TIMES during that, then Wraith jacked me out. Went through intensive nano-muscular therapy for about three hours, and here I am now. I really need a haircut." He leaned back, put the scalpel away, and brightly said "I'd say that sums most of it up." As an afterthought, completely off topic, he mused out loud "I probably shouldn't testify at Jade's trial...what with me having died and all..." |
"You may not have a choice." Wolf said. "I have a feeling the General really wants her out of the Force. That's the way these beureaucrat officers work. If they can't handle the way their subordinates act, regardless of if it saves lives and gets the job done, they have them removed. And if he doesn't get Jade removed, I'll probably be next. So he's going to call anybody in the force to testify. He already knows you were brought back...I think...so he'll track you down. However, I do understand why your testifying would really hurt Jade...but were you acting under her direct orders at the time you died?"
|
"Well, no. BUT! I was supposed to be under her jurisdiction. That, and the fact that the general seems to want any cheap blow against her he wants. Neither of those bode well."
He shook his head and said, "So, do you think that since I died, my life insurance has been used? And what about my pension plan!?" |
Well, I'd say that it'd be hard for them to cancel your life insurance and pension if you're still alive."
"Yeah, just show up at the accounting office, point out that you are obviously not dead...and see what happens."" "At the very least, they'll pay you the compensation for being dead...or something of the equivalent." |
"Just picture how that conversation will go. Just please, for a moment, picture how it will go.
'Hi, I'm Angel. I'm actually Aegis, so I'm not dead. Obviously.' 'I'm sorry, but this Aegis was marked dead so he's dead. His life insurance has been payed out.' 'Yah, EXCEPT I'M STILL ALIVE!'" Angel shook his head and said, "Well, nice to know you're here Kaitlin. Time for me to vamoose." He gave Kaitlin a hug, then dissapeared out the door. He made it back to his quarters without anyone of much importance noting his absence. |
