Generic RP: Chapter 1.5 - The Undead Attack

After the plan was made, the time just flew by as the battlements were built.

(Time lapses photography)

The Ogres and lumberjacks set off to cut down the trees. With Ogres and giant axes, this task was accomplished quickly. After switching the axes with giant shovels, the Ogres began to dig the long, deep, wide trench that was planned to be dug. While the Ogres were digging, the Workers were building the walls and towers. Mages cast haste spells when they could to speed up the building. In five days, all of the preparations were completed.

As excepted, the Avians reported the Undead numbers increasing as they came along. There would be an estimated 2400 of them by the time they reached the camp.

Two hours after noon on the seventh day, an Avian reported the Undead to be an hour away. The horns were blown, and everyone took their post. Every mage with fire spells lined up on the walls at the main road, Kelen leading them. The southern wall was filled with archers and mages with water spells. Next to the archers were carts full of quivers, each quiver filled with arrows. The fighters were armored up and equipped, standing in their positions.

Then the Undead came. A giant horde of 2500 Undead, all human sized, stumbled towards the Allies. They had spotted the Allies, and began screaming in chilling, ghastly Undead screams in an attempt to frighten their enemies while they charged.

(More time lapses. Skipping right to the action)

The walls held up good, and the trenches were burning the Undead who stumbled into them. The Undead were moments away from reaching the southern warriors and the northern fighters.

Unexpectedly, a horde of around 200 Undead Ogres changed through the ranks of the human Undead, right down the middle of the main road. Some of the faster Ogres were ahead of the main force, already in the large area of fire. They were unfazed by the fire, and continued to charge forward while on fire. The trenches proved useless as well. The first couple of Ogres jumped over the trench, then continued charging. Luckily, due to the small numbers of fast Ogres, they were quickly shot down by the archers. But the main force would not be as easy to stop.

"Finally, battle. I have waited for epic battles such as this to sing of! Adventure, comeradery and steel on steel. These are the....what are you looking at? Who am I? My teeth are long and sharp...no that sounds corny. Whatever. Just wait till they make the breach, then we shall slaughter them, my pets." Zak stated to his fighters that had to listen and whoever else would.

Sabtor fell back to where Kyles men where posted. He reported directly to Kyle.
"Theres to many for me to assasinate them as they pass looks like we are fighting together."

OOC: Otaku, I just figured I picked up your name at the meeting.

As Jace and Bill stood in the group of soldiers listening to the speech, Bill leaned over and said, "We're following this guy into battle with the undead? Why do I have a bad feeling about this..."

"Ohh, stop whining. His speech may be... Less then inspiring, but I think the core message is there to... Umm... Be proud that we have the honor to stop this undead horde here and now," Jace said with a nod.

Bill shook his head and said, "How did we ever get drafted into this again?"

"We got drafted into this one you accidently pissed off that general in a bar when you spilled your drink on him, and I backed you up when he sent his thugs to kick your ass. And after we beat them all, the decision was posed to eitehr enlist or go to jail, and we figured enlisting was better," Jace calmly replied.

"Oh, yeah, that sounds right," Bill muttered with a sigh. "I don't see how jail could be any worse then this though. At least the undead aren't about to devour us, and we don't have leaders babbleing random things in prison." Bill whined.

"Bah, we have our freedom, sort of... Our independance, in a way... And they let us keep our swords at least. As long as we stick together in this battle, we'll both make it out fine," Jace said confidently.

Bill still looked downcast, "Do you think there is a chance they can stop the undead before they reach the walls?"

"Probably not, but that is why we are here to protect the rest who can't defend themselves!" Jace responded.

Bill let out another long sigh, and hoped his first major battle in a war wouldn't be his last...

Both were brought from their idle thoughts when there where two sharp blows to the back of their heads. The CO of their force came around from behind them, putting his sword away from after he smacked them both with the flat of his blade, and said, "We are a military unit, damnit. This ain't no ice cream social. Shut your traps and stand at attention, those undead may not know fear, but we can know pride at least." He wondered off to make sure the other soldiers where ready, leaving Jace and Bill rubbing the back of their heads.

OOC: Moments, meaning that the Dragoons are fighting at the moment, you are just waiting for them to back away so the Fighters can charge in (You don't want to be in the middle of raged, heavily armored Ogres and their enemies). Stop talking.

OOC: You haven't had the Dragoons back away yet...

The moment before the undead reaced Yama's troops yama cracked his knuckles loudly. His boddy painted with colored mud in swirling patterns. He gave a war shout and charged forward. His dragoons moved with him. He smashed an undead ogre in the face smashing it's skull to powder. He back handed a zombie human and sent it flying back into the undead ranks. His troops smashed their way into the zombies

Ken settled himself better in his position. Beside him, colonel Sakaki looked impassive. Attached on Sakaki's back, and on several other samurai's back, were the standards for Ken's force.

The dragoons were doing....amazingly well. But Ken knew that they had to be ready when their time came.

Sakaki suddenly broke the almost ritualistic silence and said, "I wish we could charge."

Ken glared at him and said, "Silence." Sakaki was not Ken's second in command. Ryu, Ken's second of command, was up north with a small detachment of forty samurai. Ken had 85 to back him up.

Noting that the dragoons were slightly slowing, (due mostly the corpses piled at their feet) Ken raised his arm, and then dropped it to his nodachi. With a kiai that echoed, every single samurai there drew their nodachi, and dropped it into the ready position.

The normal troops seemed a bit jolted by the action, but Ken didn't even notice. His eyes were focused on the battle ahead. The moment the Ogres started the fall back, he charged.

Before Kyle could answer him in any way Sabtor said, "Im going down to fight with the dragoons. Hell we get so few undead they may never make it past the dragoons at all." Sabtor didn't honestly belive this but he said it anyway. hell by the time he made it up front the fighters will have already moved in He quickly worked his way thruogh the ranks to the front lines.

The shrill screams of the undead filled Brashkukor's ears and he responded with a mighty roar of his own as he unleashed his furry with another volley of lightening spells. He was so focused on his task that he almost missed the message being quickly passed down the wall.

He a soldier with Barash's 2nd archer squad pass on the down the wall, "Undead Ogres hitting the wall by the road, pass it down."

Barash briefly examined this information and then roughly pulled his mage lieutenant up and said, "I want 1st and 2nd mage squads to begin making their way up the wall. Tell them to continue to cast on their way up, but to reserve their main power until they get to me or see an ogre coming down the wall."

The lieutenant nodded and set off gathering the mage squads. Barash hopped the wall, hurriedly mounted his wolf, and began heading up the wall at a breakneck pace. He was already chanting the beginnings of the spell he would use.

In the sky above, the day had suddenly turned dark as spontaneous thunder-heads began to form.
