I'm collecting!

Apparently! It's not a terribly impressive collection, but I would consider owning more games than I will play within a year or two a collection nonetheless.

So, toss some suggestions at me to help me expand my collection. What games will turn into a college fund one day? Which ones are simply decent regardless of "value" and are a MUST HAVE?

I'm looking for anything NES-era and after, except for XBOX and including handhelds. In paticular I'm looking for Sega Saturn titles, as I was not all that familar with the system when it came out. Also places/ websites where I can get old games for a good price are welcome entries as well.

well no game will really reach that level except for the total bombs. If a game is good it will be ported at some point so value of the original lessens

however if you just want good games, Kirby Superstar, loved that game

Try grab Panzer Dragoon Saga for the Sega Saturn; excellent game that is also incredibly rare nowadays. I recall seeing it being sold on E-Bay for $150+ before.

Edit:
I also recall getting my hands on Front Mission 3 for the Playstation also being quite difficult.

Game manuals, Box, Posters and the such will have more value than games, because, the older a game gets the higher the chance of it becoming Digital content, so the game itself could loose value. But the Box, manuals and other assorted items from any specific title are likely to rise in price over time.

Yeah I'm specifically looking for games that are 1) the original release (not a "greatest hits" title or the like) and 2) come with the original packaging (as mentioned: Box, Manual, Artwork, etc.

This is easier with new games (PlayStation and onward) but its difficult to find even N64 boxes. I have most of the systems I want to collect things for, and I imagine that eventually those too will be a decent collectors item, but I'm on the lookout for original boxes for a Saturn or N64 consoles as well.

Oh man tell me about it. Even something like "Stadium Events" would be am amazing find, let alone something ridiculous like "Bubble Bath Babes".

Holy shit, I'm holding on to a potential gold mine.

I've kept almost all of my original game cases/manuals/etc. for my DS games.

Hell, I didn't even throw a single thing from that wonderfully huge HG box when I bought it. Add that to the fact that I also have the little miniature that you get when you preorder it...

Then keep it! Maybe some of that stuff has value right now, but DS games should take quite a while until they become valuable. I mean, it's hyper popular, so there is quite a lot of it in the market. Very few "rare gems"

Video games will probably start to appreciate in value much like Comic books. It may be 30-50 years but yes by all means hold onto everything that comes with those games, and replace the caseless items in your inventory for ones with boxes and art when you can do so.
