RE: IHMN's library reflex-increase scenario.
That would imply the guy had low intelligence, because anyone with a smidgen of intelligence would either clsoe the window or put an inkstone on the book. |
Hmmm.. that is an interesting concept. Let's say my dude spent the rest of his three days....taking a crap, or something, that would give him a con. increase right? If you spent three days on the crapper, you'd have to be able to survive a lot!
But seriously, could spellcasting be increased by going to the library and reading ancient texts? Or maybe by taking part in some sort of ritual before the kenjutsu tournament. |
I think my guy is going to be reading in the library to increase his intelligence, then suddenly get attacked by ninjas every now and then and have to dodge shurikens to increase his agility.
|
Maybe there were no paper weights available and a giant ogre was guarding the window, Dante?
Also, if it's a kenjutsu tournament, would magic even be allowed? Kenjutsu is sword fighting, after all... Edit: ...ninja librarians? Neato! Also, wouldn't that be reflexes, not agility? T.N. to be hit (dodging ability) is determined by reflexes... |
How about librarians, instead of ninjas? They are much more realistic. They could do stuff like say, "Please be quiet! This is a library." really, really loud.

Or maybe you could take a leaf out of Ranma 1/2 and have a fighting tea ceremony increase your Tea Ceremony, Athletics, Jiujitsu and Ninjutsu (thrown objects) skill...
|
ok you can go to Go to the Asahina libraries you'd need to be an Asahina. I don't know why but the clans get very paranoid someone is trying to steal their spells.
Reflexes is instinctive movement, i.e. dodging Agility is moving on purpose, i.e. hitting something |
Agility is tied to attacking.
Your number of dice for attacking is your weapon skill + agility, and then you get to actually keep and add together a number of dice equal to your agility. Take Taken. He has 4 agility and 3 kenjutsu (now), so he rolls seven dice and gets: 3, 5, 17, 15, 18, 1, 15. He would keep the best four, 18, 17, 15, 15 and add those together for his actual total. |
