Aw, you see, I assumed that it meant you just switch out the character the player's name was by for your's.

You could have pointed that out when I started asking if the magic my guy has can be used...

You don't have Iaijutsu skill, nor is your kenjutsu skill that high. Takeishi is a shiba yojimbo. he does have Iaijutsu, and he's good with a sword.

IHateMakingNames 05-17-2004 10:49 PM

Puh, I don't remember anything about my character...

Squishy Cheeks 05-17-2004 10:54 PM

You're going to need to post again. Also you can focus 2 times are you going to want to do that. It's almost like betting in poker. the tn to hit starts at 5. everytime you focus it goes up by 5. You can also declare a strike however your opponent rolls on his higher TN then you roll yours at 5 less than his, unless you didn't focus and then you just roll the base tn of 5.

IHateMakingNames 05-17-2004 10:56 PM

I knew I should have payed attention back during the sign up...

Hold on while I go figure out what TN is and how it works...

T.N. is Target Number. In this case target number to be hit. You have to roll that or over in order to hit the person.

Squishy Cheeks 05-17-2004 11:01 PM

Itworks like this. When you decide to hit each other you roll your Agility+ iaijutsu keeping agility vs the tn.

He's going first he focuses his tn goes up to 10
you focus your tn goes up to 15
he fcuses his tn goes to 20
you strike.
He rolls at tn 20 if he hits he wins, if he misses you roll your attack at tn 15.

IHateMakingNames 05-17-2004 11:03 PM

Hm, I can either just do that, or I can use a void point and increase agility for a roll and try the first thing...

The focus thing is probably a bit safer in chances of winning though, so I'll probably go with that.

Krylo 05-17-2004 11:05 PM

Is there any way for the higher reflex person to just plain go first? It seems kind of silly that the person with lower reflexes gets to go first unless they call a strike or the person with higher reflexes has more void.

What I'm trying to say is that you either need lower reflexes and equal void, or for both reflexes and void to be higher in order to ensure going first... and it seems silly that if you have lower reflexes you actually have a slight advantage in your chance to go first in an iaijutsu draw.

Unless I'm misunderstanding something. Which I probably am, because the way it seems, if when you call strike the other person goes first, there's absolutely no reason for you to call strike unless you run out of void, so giving the option seems equally silly.

Also... if both people have equal reflexes, who calls first?

Squishy Cheeks 05-17-2004 11:07 PM

higher reflexes does get to choose to focus or strike first, after that it moves to mental edge and agility. thus the lower tn if you call the strike.

If reflexes are tied you go by iaijutsu skill, if that's tied then void, if still tied flip a coin.
