uh yeah, banning cards that have ante effects is pretty damn important, because when i go play, i don't want some smelly punk kid to win the game on a coin toss, or steal a lotus of mine.

apart from those, there are some cards which are just too powerful. ancestral recall, for one. paying 1 blue to gain a 2 card advantage is just sick. ritual is still legal, last i checked. the banned and restricted list isn't really enforced unless you're in a DCI tournament, and those are fully of really weird old men who've got nothing better to do. i much prefered the card store tournies, and what not.

oh, and arena limited release land is much sexier, specially since some are foil. (in saga)

Dark Ritual is on the list of cards banned from tournaments. Many people disliked that. Not me; I've never had enough black land to make a decent black deck, so it has never affected me.
