Melfice needs help with his pc!!!

About an hour ago I started up my pc. When it was up and runnin' I came walking towards my pc and saw the colours were not right. I thought my brother had been messin' around with the settings again so I checked them.

It seemed the colours were set back to 16 colours. So I try to set them back to the usual standards. I restart the computer and it just stayed 16 colours. I checked "system" and it appears one "machine": nVidia WDM Video Capture (universal), doesn't work. I already tried re-installing the drivers from within Windows itself, but that doesn't work. Oh, yeah, I use Windows M(iserable)E(dition), and never received the cd's I should have gotten from my supplier...

What in the name of all that is Holy, and some things that aren't, can I do, besides reformatting my harddrive?

I'm desperate here!

Call the Geeks on Call. They ROCK. I'm not even kidding, they can fix anything at all, and just about all of the time without formatting! XD

Do a system restore to a savepoint from yesterday or the day before. It should back up daily, so all you'll lose are configuration settings. Also if you installed any programs since, but those are easy to get.

Hard data isn't lost. (Text files, images etc.)

Yeah, I'll try that, tomorrow. I need my beauty sleep ;) BIG time... Thanks and keep the advice comin'! I might need it if it doesn't work...

Kick it.. Always works for me. *insert backdrop of broken and dented machinery with foot imprints on the sides*

Wait, I didn't see the part where you downloaded the actual cards driver from the website...did you try that? Most Windows drivers are out of date.

How about this driver?

Areyou sure maybe it's not accidently set to Safe Mode? I remember having that problem in my early computer days; my computer would justreboot into Safe Mode for whatever reason suited it best(e.g. "I crashed, so I'm going to boot into safe mode." or "You were playing a game, so I'm going to boot into safe mode." or "I just suck like this, so I'm going to boot into safe mode." etc.).

if it is starting in safe mode, the screen would be set to 800x600 or 640x400 or some really small setting, then to have it stop starting in safe mode, click 'start' to 'run' and then type in msconfig

make sure the regular start is selected, not the diagnostic one.

Well, I downloaded the drivers, didn't work. I did find out though that this is a very common problem, and there isn't much that can be done about it. I haven't tried kicking it yet, but I'm gonna see a friend today, who is a computer... lover is the correct term, I believe.
