The paint that drops in crates can't actually be bought. But I got a Nappers' Respite from the crate that I opened, so that made me very happy.

The Blut and Needle gun are Devastating in the right way. however Its basically a Artillery and Escape weapon as the needles have various speeds making it hard to aim correctly. But the needle gun fires one 10 damaging needle every .15 of a second. and with crits it's 30 damage. As we all know medic gets crits like mad(due to him getting credit for his partners damage and his own healing) and any medic that knows how to abuse this Will. The Blut for many people is a complete upgrade because of the healing effect. However the Increased healing regain on the original weapon is preferable to many.[/geek out]

Jagos 10-09-2010 03:51 PM

I'm thinking more about the Vita-saw and all the community weapons that everyone got. I think he got screwed out of the deal.

BB 10-10-2010 06:23 AM

Y'know, thinking about it, the battalion's back-up completely and directly counters the kritzkrieg- it makes an uber from a kritz medic completely useless! I'm surprised people aren't more up-in-arms about that, I'd have thought it should at most reduce crits to minicrits and minicrits to normal damage (then normal hits to 30% less damage, basically just taking every hit down a damage level).

Do we know if it counters the special critical hits like backstab and headshot?

Viridis 10-10-2010 06:31 AM

This counting the Kritz doesn't seem like such a big deal.

They don't mention Headshots, but we might be able to assume the same applies.

Revising Ocelot 10-10-2010 12:41 PM

Hmph. Still haven't got my hat and pan. I see lots of people using them now...

Jagos 10-10-2010 01:27 PM

Will trade any vintage stuff for Pyro items. Specifically melee and hat.

if you got enough vintage items to trade anything, why not just craft the pyro items?

Yo, I've got V. Axetinguisher, V. Backburner, and both and V. and non-V. Homewrecker. Whatchu got?

Viridis 10-10-2010 03:19 PM

My L4D2 items dropped today.

I have a spare Vintage Homewrecker, Jagos. Non-Vintage Axtinguisher. Got a spare 'Bonk!'? If you try to take my Brigade Helm or Double-Vintage Merryweather I will cut you.

Aerozord 10-10-2010 04:29 PM

how is something "double-vintage"

well its actually a joke. there is a Hat called the Vintage Marrywether. when it became vintage it became the Vintage vintage Marrywether. So people started calling it Double vintage. there is another hat with vintage in the name as well as well.

That'd be the V.V. Tyrolean, I think.

Aerozord 10-10-2010 07:34 PM

anyone have a spare KGB they wouldn't mind giving up. I want to craft GRU and its like the only vintage item I dont have a duplicate of.

Looking for a Power jack and Attendant.

Still don't know how to craft them... And laziness says I may get it faster (and cheaper) through trade than crafting.

Got to check tomorrow after class. But I'm pretty sure I do.

=Edit= Checked for both, only one of each. Sorry...

The GRUs are the best TF2 upgrade like, ever.

Powerjack is Axtinguisher+Reclaimed Metal
Attendant is 4 Refined Metal+A weapon from the set (Degreaser or Powerjack).

Nope, because the only one that ever bothers going Medic on my teams is me. GRU eats health like candy, and it's so obnoxious to kill a single Soldier that was at midrange and thus landed 3 rockets, and keel over before you reach a medkit.

There's also a plague of Shortstop Scouts. That thing -really- needs a Scattergun style reload or more damage falloff at range.

It's still useful as hell because even without a medic it still lets you haul ass back to the action any time you don't have a teleporter handy at the spawn and health isn't even a problem as long as you approach it the same way as a soldier/demo explosionjumping across the map IE just have a good idea of where the health is and grab 'em as you go. Also I feel the chance of getting shot up by opposing team members at a point when you're low is more than offset by the decreased chance of getting ganked by backfield spies since you can just like, outrun them now.

Also they look rad as hell.

EDIT And I mean if you've taken three rockets and survived but are that low on health... why are you using the health-sucking gloves? That is clearly not what they are for!

EDIT Like basically I think the GRUs do a pretty good job of not allowing you to escape from situations in which you kind of should be fucked - if I wanted a bullshit Escape Death Repeatedly With No Problems card, I'd play Spy - while allowing you to get to situations where you're needed in an efficient manner, as the inability to do so was always, for me, one of the most painful parts of playing Heavy.

Jagos 10-11-2010 09:36 AM

GRU + Dalokahs Bar = problem solved.

Doc ock rokc 10-11-2010 11:09 AM

Gru and sandvich = Problem solved. just throw it down and run over it.

Jagos 10-11-2010 11:49 AM

Doesn't he run out of bologne to keep doing that?

Viridis 10-11-2010 12:01 PM

Throwing the Sandvich starts a 30 sec recharge.

Aerozord 10-11-2010 12:03 PM

dalokah bar has a cooldown too so not like it makes a differance

Viridis 10-12-2010 11:35 PM

So... I have two of each of the L4D2 items. Anybody want to offer something neat in exchange for the extras?

They're tradeable after an update yesterday.

... Doesn't reclaimed metal require scrapping some items?

I dunno...

Other than Force a Gayture, Equahax, and Backrubbish, I may not have enough items...

Attendant is just out of the question since I've yet to get more than one drop.

I have some I can give you if you need extra. It isn't much, but it's going to take a lot longer for me to put it to any use, so I may as well hand it over to someone who can use it.

Doc ock rokc 10-13-2010 11:01 AM

if all else fails you can idle for the extras

Actually, I'm not so sure anymore. The patch notes say so, but the actual items tell me they were purchased and cannot be traded. :raise:

Irreverent double-posting.

Valve announced the winners of the Art Pass Contest.

YM's is the most beautiful, detailed and atmospheric map I have ever seen. :aaa::dance:

I vow never to play it until I have a computer good enough to play that map with the settings all the way up.

Valve Christmas or real-time Christmas?

Viridis 10-15-2010 03:04 PM

Given the theme of that Manor, I'd love to have it in time for Halloween, but who knows?

Jagos 10-15-2010 03:16 PM

Yeah, it will be Halloween.

Just enjoy your birthday first. And Christmas. And Labor day next year.

Ellis' Hat and the Frying Pan are tradable now.

Aerozord 10-21-2010 09:33 PM

I just wanna say, after looking it over I am restating my complaint about the hats and competativeness. Yea they are craftable, but you need 73 freakin weapons to make them. Even crafting every spare item I have I couldn't even make one. Hell I dont think I could if I crafted every weapon I have, period.

you have the "keep it rares" idlers to thank for that.

Fifthfiend 10-21-2010 10:24 PM

Valve's make it asstardedly hard to get hats as long as hats have existed and they'd do it regardless of whether idling happened or not.

E: I see that you saw.

Fifthfiend 10-21-2010 10:42 PM

Geoffron X, why are you inventing PLAINLY UNTRUE statements which have clearly NEVER appeared in my posts, containing errors which I COULD NOT POSSIBLY ever be so dumb as to make?

Why, Geoffron X, why are you telling these SHAMEFUL LIES.

Aerozord 10-21-2010 11:12 PM

you can keep crap rare, but not when it gives you a penalty free buff. Despite what they say people with these hats have an edge over those that dont. Its just unrealistic to get them without paying. Isn't the drop limit like 7 items a week? It will take over two months to even accumulate enough items to make one and thats assuming you reach the limit and that 100% of your items go to crafting them.

Fifthfiend 10-21-2010 11:29 PM

The bonus kiiiiiind of makes sense for the Pyro since the degreaser is clearly meant to be used with the axtinguisher so a bonus for the full set offsets the disadvantage of using them not-as-intended. But none of the other sets really seem to slant towards a particular combo in the same way so yeah it's sort of just a straight have hat -> be better.

...In fact Batallion's Backup / Black Box are pretty outright complimentary so throwing them sentry resistance on top of that is pretty hugely BS.
