New Original XBox problem
 

So, I've had to unplug my X-box as of recently because I can't shut if off with the power button. Any idea what is going on?

Your power button is dying? Those things have a limited lifespan, you know.

Is it something I can fix myself or would I need help?

Holy crap, the same exact thing happened to mine. I never figured it out and it doesn't work at all now, sorry.

That doesn't bode well for me...

You could send it in to Microsoft, but for the money it would cost to fix it at this point, you could probably get a 360.

I'd rather do it myself than...with my little brother to help. Both of us are geniuses with electrical equipment (I can do circuits and he's a hacker and builds his own hardware firewalls from scratch).

I am looking into the problem with Google and consulting my little bro but it doesn't bode well it seems.

I wouldn't recommend it. I took a look at my brother's when the same thing happened and my admittedly mediocre grasp of electronics informed me that he was SoL due to just what you'd be getting yourself into.

Need to repair the power button assembly. A whole new one should be installed.

I highly recommend you open up the Xbox and show everyone that you're total geniuses. It seems like the best idea.

I know from having many good ideas in my time.
