There should be an Adventure! sprite comic...

Oh come on, it'd be fun. The hero could fight dragons, and other dragons, and a bat. Can't forget the bat.

He could also have a pet "turtle" named Logo, who leaves a trail of yellow behind him where ever he goes. (And no, I'm not going to even hazard a guess as to what that trail consists of).

He'll also always be on the perpetual quest for the almighty poking stick, which he calls his sword, and keeps misplacing.

id be willing to participate in that project. i say we get all the people competent in story writing and artistry with sprites and we make a collective sprite comic. that would rock.

alright, im serious about this. email (bvanalle@hotmail.com) me or im me on aim (moreorlesstupid). Or if SWB wants his dibs first, let em post his shizznizzle and respond to him.

And here I thought I was being mock serious. Well first question, are there any decent Atari emulators out there?

And I would be willing to go so far as to make a mock, Logo sprite. I mean, all Logo was just a tiny triangle, and I could easily make something up from the Hero/Blocky's sword.

there are, actually, some really good atari emulators.

hey man, jus lemme know what you wanna do.

And lets not forget that our main hero is a block...

He could be called Cursor...

Hey I got an idear

This sounds totally awesome.

I'd love to participate/give it a shot.

I'm real good at sprites, honest.

-Here's a thought: Someone could start the comic off with a single strip, and then pass it along to another person, who does the next part, and it could go on like that until we finish/everyone gets tired of it.

Ehh? Ehh?

Otaku Son 05-17-2004 10:35 PM

Mary K's idea sounds somewhat familiar(like something Brian did for some website once upon a time). However, would the next person in line only get to see the prior person's comic, or the entire comic up to that point? 'Cause if it's the former, then there'll probably be a lot of whacky discontinuity hijinks, which would make it funnier.

Personally, since Adventure! really is just the Hero/Blocky/Cursor, a bunch of Dragons, and that ever annoying bat, I think there's a need for more characters.

That's why I suggested Logo, the 'turtle'. Logo, if any of you recall was a drawing program of sorts. Basically, it was a triangle, which you were told was a turtle, but for the life of me, I still don't understand why. Anyway, you told this turtle to trot four or so paces one way or another, and he'd leave a line behind him where ever he went, unless you very specifically told him not too. Thus, the lame joke of a pet for the hero, with a bowel problem of some order, ensues.

Right now I'm experiencing a bit of computer trouble at my end, so there isn't much I can contribute. However, before getting started I suggest you work out as many details as you can.

3 Dragons, 1 Bat, the Hero, and maybe Logo. Frankly that isn't enough, and I'd suggest either creating new fabricated characters (most likely recolors of the hero), or pulling in characters from other similar sources (Power Block from the Pac-Man games? Who says it wasn't intelligent, or even enjoyed being eaten. Heck, I know I wouldn't.)

Also, for those of us who actually played the game, maybe coming up with a list of things that were really annoying might help fill in the plot, which as of yet doesn't exist.

The Bat:
- Has stolen my sword from me just before I was about to kill a dragon, and replaced it with a bridge.
- Has stolen the bridge from me while I was in the middle of a brick wall.
- Once I managed to somehow to get swallowed, but still kill the dragon. So basically I was stuck in a dead dragon. Then typically enough, the bat took me for a little trip around the game.

Dragons:
- I vaguely recall them, and all I can really remember is that I hated there lack of digestive fluids, and the fact that I could struggle for hours before getting off my bum to reset the Atari system.

The Chalice
- It wasn't all that pretty.
