Unhealthy Rant Against Link
Now I know I can't be the only one out there that thinks that Link was once cool. Now however he has given up on his hardcore gaming roots and instead become Nintendos pretty boy everybody likes him. So in an effort to fight the status quo I am launching a fight against Link.
Umm... what? Link has always been cool. Excet for WW. He looks totally bad-ass in the new video.
Couldn't you start small and work your way up to link? Like, start at Donkey Kong, work your way up to Mario, and then go after Link? Or do you just not like the guy because he's being used differently from what you think he should do?
And Link was never hardcore.. His world was always kinda goofy. He was a fat little elf who used bombs, a bow and a sword! He was a blatent rip off of Tolkien! (heh heh heh) |
With perhaps the sole exception of the first Zelda, Link was never fat. He's always been bad ass. Ever since the original, he won't hesitate to stick his sword in you if you stand in his way. You could bomb, stab, burn, freeze, throw, transform, pummel, or just plain annihilate your enemy's throughout Zelda history. Tell me how that's not badass.
And Veritas, if you mean that the most recent Zelda games appeal to casual gamers instead of serious ones, try playing the Oracle/Seasons games. Those'll have you tearing your hair out. |
Vertitas, if you're just going against the trend to be cool, you've failed. And unless this thread gains some semblance of WHY you're uprising against Link, then it shall be closed.
Veritas, if you look at all of the games out today, which are the most hardcore of the new ones? I think you'll notice that the Zelda series is still much harder than the average games out today, but only because they have lowered standards to fit the lowering intelligence level of children today. If you play the Zelda games tho, you'll find that it alone has kept some sense of its original hardcoreness, while Mario, Donkey Kong, and most FPSs out have become less hardcore and more boring at exponential rates. The gaming industry is just targeting the next generation of "gamers," who I don't quite see as true gamers. At least Link and Ganon(dorf) have kept their skills up, even if they haven't been increasing in skill. Both are still just as Badass as they were in the beginning.
Edit: and RaiRai, I think he was more concerned with Link becoming less Hardcore, than with Link becoming a "pretty-boy." |
Actually, Elminster, I think the newer ones are harder than the old ones. Really, what's the hardest part of the first LoZ? Burning bushes randomly to find things? That one repeating maze that you could get the answer to easily enough? Pah. Compare that to finding all the skulltulas in OoT, or the last fight in Mask (unless you had the fierce diety mask, the getting of which was far harder).
Link totally kicks ass! I have every single zelda game ever made (except for Mask and the craptasticly bad cd-i games)! He is the best character ever created! He believes in chivalry, has many abilities, can use almost any weapon, and he's hot! Now try and tell me what's so bad about him?
the only game i have a problem with is windI waker. Now,my opinion is a little confusing,so if you cant understand my logic, then im sorry. Now,I believe that Wind waker is the WORST Zelda game ever created,it really just pissed me off that it was a Zelda game. Now before you all start to yell at me, I actually liked the game. If I had never ever herd of Zelda in my life, then I would think that this game was the best. As a single game,it was a great game. But I think that it should not be considered a Zelda game. Very contradictory, I know, but thats how its supposed to be.
well I think he is just complaining about the new cel shaded link in Wind Waker. Look get over the graphics. Fact is those graphics are better to show interaction. You may notice in about anything CG object either go through one another, and welded together, or never really touch.
