Greetings everybody. Just to let you guys know, I am creating my own RPG using Gamemaker. I call it the Super Nintendo RPG cuz, well, it's an RPG involving Nintendo Characters.

The webpage is as follows:

BTW, I am going to be altering the graphics even more. It was impossible to find (much less make) isometric sprites for Link and others, so it'll have to take on the role of Paper Mario-style graphics. :(

Of course, if anybody is a good spriter, then E-mail me at AOKer51@hotmail.com. I might have a job for you. Maybe isometric sprites might be on the horizon again...

I can't see your pictures because you saved them as bmp's and they take forever to load.

Sounds cool though.

Should I then convert them to gif format?

Magic: I'd highly suggest it. Just having come out of a web design class, I know that JPEG and GIF formats are HIGHLY better for website use than BMP formay. Any simple image manipulation program should be able to convert for you.

In FACT if you're using a WYSIWYG program to create/publish your website, you'll be glad to know that most WYSIWYG's have a GIF or JPEG converter built in. At least I know Frontpage does. :p

Very well then. I've taken down the images, for I'm going to scrap the current project and start from scratch.

Suggestions as to what the game should include, characters, etc. would be highly appreciated.

Here's the catch:

First-party Nintendo Characters from the NES/SNES era. (Exception: Golden Sun is GBA, yet it's characters will be included) are the only type.
Exception: If you want a third party member, like Sonic, he may merely Cameo. I've reserved an entire portion of my gaming world, called Colosso, as an arena in which characters from multiple universes can get together to fight each other. See which is the greater Psychic: Ness or Psycho Mantis!

Just make sure you give credit for all the characters to the right people (like 8-Bit Theatre does so well) or you could get in trouble from Nintendo. Not like that SHOULD happen, but videogame companies have been known to be anal about stuff like this from time to time.

This sounds awesome. Are you going with custom sprite-work?

Magic Juggler 05-18-2004 03:40 PM

Yes and no. The backgrounds, and some of the special effects will be custom. The core characters won't, although they might have custom animations.

I've already got it in my agenda to thank everybody for their...contributions to the game.

As for what do you guys wish to see, feel free to post.

Thanks. The first actual gameplay (not a tech demo) should be out by the end of this month. The premise is that one character from a Nintendo universe will fight enemies from another Nintendo Universe (ie Mario fighting monsters from Hyrule, Fox McCloud descending into the depths of Planet Zebes, etc.)

Here's what I want:
1) Which character should be used? Any 1st-party Nintendo character from the NES-SNES era is acceptable.
2) Which universe. Any 1st-party universe from the NES-SNES era is acceptable.
