Atlantis
I've recently been intrigued be Atlantis and the mysteries that surrond it. I was wondering if anybody had information as to where i could learn more about this topic and the demise of Atlantis.
There are some intresting facts but i olny know one of those facts and that is that Atlantis klies somewhere in the Atlantic ocean. Starting at the Gulf of Mexico |
I dont think atlantis exists but in an episode of futurama they went to atlantis but discovered it was atlanta that had sunk into the ocean

Actually, there's evidence of a society much like atlantis existing in the sea south of Rome and Greece. Apparently in ancient maps there was a land mass there with a society and what have you... so that's probably where it would be.
Another theory is that it's in the bermuda triangle, but that theory relies on the atlantians having all sorts of advanced technology, and says that the triangle is because of some kind of weapon that sunk there... which is bunk. The triangle is the triangle because it lies on one of the true magnetic poles of the world, which causes havoc in all kinds of navigation systems. |
i seen a tv show about atlantis it was kinda boring. but that would be cool if it were real.

Here's my view on Atlantis.
I believe that it does exist however I don't think it is/was in the center of the ocean. I think it's much more likely that a group of early exlorers sailed west and ended up in the mayan/aztec empire. They were fairly advanced and used alot of geometric designs and had large temples and structures which sound like the description of Atlantan architecture. Thay had gold and another language which is also attributed to Atlanteans. The metal Orihicalum however I have no theories about. |

Jack, that is unlikely, because Greek vessels (the ones who came up with Atlantis) were not meant for long voyages. After all, all the ships had to do was go around in the Mediterrainian, where land is rarely more than 100 miles away. If a Greek ship got beyond the Strait of Gibraltar, it is highly unlikey that it would get very far.

???????????
Well i must say that one mans lie is based on one mans finding.... I think that atlantis is not real but it is based on some dif civ. that lived some time ago. As for facts and stuff i know nothing about so dont ask me. I heard that native americans where the lost tribes of atlantis. ?????????? well i do think there is a civ that was very hi tech and died out for some reason. Like the way the norsman traveled and found greenland. So thats what i think.

Read the Numenoralde, or whatever it's called, in the Silmarillion. That's what happened to Atlantis.

I think that joint near Greece and Rome, that Krylo was talking about, was Atlantis. I think I've heard arguments that the Minoans, who we actually know about, were or were very close to Atlanteans.
Either way, the Bremuda Triangle is a death trap if you're not Cuban, and if you can make yourself look like a Cuban (And carry plenty of ammunition), you can find a lot of treasure down there faster than you would while searching for Atlantis. |
