I thought you guys might like to know that my Mom thinks you guys are a bunch of boy loving old men. :D She also thinks talking on this forum is going to make me hate my parents.

Interesting isn't it.

wow talk about being paranoid. And why's it gotta be old men?? Why can it be old women?? Not that im old, just curious.

It's sad how people get so paranoid about new things, especially technology.

I personally was banned from playing multiplayer on Red Alert 2 for that exact same reason. Our conversations consisted of

"You attack this guy and I'll back you up."

"K"

Yet she believed they were getting some sort of vital information from me like my SIN or something.

We all know that "you attack this guy and I'll back you up" is code for "I want you and I live at 123 fake street." I mean its in the leacherous old man handbook!

Well... personally... I AM a boy (and girl) loving old man. So long as by 'boy' you mean '16 and up, and pretty' (note: 16 is age o' consent round here), and by old man you mean '21'.

Also, your parents suck. You should hate them. Boo. Hiss.

But, really, have you done anything to supply her with information to the contrary? Let her browse the forum a little, and see that we aren't old men. Considering I'm 13, that's a rather likely state of affairs. If your mom still thinks we are old men, whatever you do, don't tell her she's being stupid! Adults don't like kids telling them they're stupid. Just log in secretly--wait, no, she'll read this! I didn't type anything! YES SIREE! NOPE, I DIDN'T JUST TYPE SOMETHING! WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

Thats kinda of ridicolous...Considering that there aren't really any old men here. Unles by old you mean 20+...

That's really bizzare... Although I think SAAM has a point. It seems that parents quickly become paranoid of any new technology they can't personally understand, and thus think it is EVIL and going to CORRUPT YOUR MIND! I don't think you need to worry though, until you come home one day, and your parents have a priest trying to drive the "Bad Spirits" out of your computer...

Oh, and as to being an "Old Man", I'm 18, I just act old for my age... And I can say that I love the ladies... Soo, that pretty much makes the whole thing untrue then, hmm?

The idea that the people behind the names in various online communities around the Internet are all really old/skeezy men and not young girls or boys is not unfounded. Far too many cases of this occur. These guys tend to enjoy pretending to be young girls or boys to confused and/or get their jollies while chatting to actual teenagers or whatever it is. It's not uncommon, or else the FBI wouldn't be taking the time to have teenagers or younger work for them and enter chats to see if they can ferret out any of these kinds of old men.

I've honestly never heard of any cases in which women were guilty of this. If they are, they are far more successful at not letting others figure it out.

Indeed. There are far too many 15 - 17 year olds around here for this to be a board of "old men." And us "older" ones are mostly around the college ages.
