Good thing we don't have any minotaurs in Minecraft, as I think I found the perfect lair for one.
the client is throwing the "can't connect to minecraft.net" error, but the site is still up and all is fine...
It's been working fine for me... I've seen others around as well.
The browser version works fine, but the client won't connect. Must be a bug somewhere they missed with it.
Try deleting everyting (minecraft.exe as well as desktop/app data/roaming/.minecraft) and reinstalling (back up any single-player worlds you got before doing this).
I have the same problem, tried that, it didn't seem to affect anything. The problem is the client itself connecting, so all getting rid of the .miecraft folder did was remove my ability to choose "play offline."

works fine for me

I'm using the client and it worked fine for me.

Oh yeah, there's a large, flat area east of Shy's dragon statue. That is a site I've manually leveled and expanded in preparation of a large project. Don't build there please.
I understand that it is working for some people. Never said it wasn't. But for the people who are have the problem, the problem is with the client.
