The rough version of the waterfront is finished. Windows, paintings and all the bullshit will come later. VIP spots are reserved for Flare, myself, Shyria and Fifth. The rest of you common rabble will have to use the public spots.

Do keep in mind that boats are still glitchy, and may act up while within two-block wide waterways.

Hellway rail from base to Thad's place is up and running!

Used gold from some of the community chests for the powered rails and regular rails stripped outta the abandoned mine. Direct, ghastproofed access to Thadtopia! A proud day for hellverse transit.

NOTE: There's a wort farm near the nether side of the base's portal. Is that important to anyone? Thad was askin.

A combination of teamwork and boredom made a very productive night indeed.

Now, there's a small netherwort farm next to Fifth's nether portal.

Who made it? And would you mind terribly if I ripped it out? I'm pretty sure the flaming 'rack is giving us pig problems. I'd rather they didn't steal the cart when we use the rails.

I also put in an airlock at the tower to keep pigs out from the more civilized areas. Standard dual-switch design, shouldn't be hard to grasp.

Okay, so, recently I bought Minecraft and even more recently I decided that, for some friends on ponychan (and all of /pony/, possibly), I'd try to run a Minecraft server for them during December (and possibly later, if this goes well). A friend and I tested the waters a few days ago with the first party server program and things went well, and today I tried out Bukkit for the first time and that went well.

So I have two questions.

1. The server's IP is, for better or worse, my own public IP Address. This doesn't strike me as a terribly good idea for a public server anyone can access, so is there a way to change that?

2. What would be a good way to stress test the server, beyond simply activating Creative Mode and blowing up a whole ton of TNT going from the surface all the way down to the void?

1: DynamicDNS is your friend. While you'll still be hosting on your WAN-IP, the users won't see said WAN-IP. They'll see something like this instead: yourservername.dyndns.info or somethin to that extent, if your router supports dynDNS' service that is. There is a free service buried somewhere in that site. You'll have to poke around for it.

2. Try Can I Host a Minecraft Server. While it isn't exact it should give a general rough estimate of what your box can handle, assuming vanilla build of course.

Looked into DynamicDNS, the free service is for 30 Days and I might be planning on using it for longer, so I decided to look into other options. Found another site that's similar, but totally free, but the email they sent to my yahoo mail account never came so...

Ended up checking out Simple Static IP, and found there was an option to Use OpenDNS as my DNS Server, OpenDNS being yet another one of those free services. Upon trying this, though, my Minecraft server became unreachable. Any attempt to connect to it results in it timing out.

So I switched back to my default DNS, and... that solved nothing. So I guess I broke what didn't even need fixing.

EDIT: So, I decdied to use CMD to find out what my DNS Server is right now, just in case. This was from Steam Chat:

Dragon Rage: >Example DNS: 192.168.1.2
Dragon Rage: >My DNS: fec0:0:0:ffff::1%1

Yeah, um... I haven't the foggiest what that means, but that does not look like a DNS Server at all.

EDIT EDIT:

Welp, I went and searched and dug up some info, and I found out that my DNS Server is working properly after all. So... I'm back to square one here. No freakin' clue why this won't work.

EDIT EDIT EDIT:

Think I figured out what the problem is, but still have no idea how to fix it. Gonna make a thread on the Help board in a bit.

EDIT ALL THE POSTS:

And now it's fixed! Minecraft server is a-go!

Sorry if this topic has been covered, but I have not been on for a while. Your server, it is OUTDATED!

And how many things (including herself) has flare set on fire?

Well then, feel free to explore the Nether-fortress. Thadco cannot guarantee your safety, but we can guarantee it won't be boring!
