HEY GUYS

A quick note about SAND

I realize we all need this valuable glass-making resource, HOWEVER

A bunch of stripmined beaches and deserts are UGLY TO LOOK AT

There is lots of map available on each of the mapped worlds and ever more to be discovered; if you need sand then find one of the more distant sandy areas to dig it from rather than stripping beaches and deserts near the central spawn areas or near other people's stuff.

Well.

Now I can never leave Terra or Elysium for more than five minutes again.

Out of curiousity, is anyone else finding it REALLY crashy?

There's always under the water. I've started doing that on Necro.

That's what I do too.

Now seems like a good time for RENDERS

For clipouts, gonna mainly focus on stuff that's changed a lot since the last maps I ran.

First off is Elysium since I didn't do that at all last time. Ely tends to be... feature-dense,

http://img846.imageshack.us/img846/3...lysiumnurw.png

so here's a nice big shot of the central area, where you'll see doc's sprites (SORRY WHITE MAGE DOESN'T SHOW UP IN THIS ONE), Shy's Bakonhaus, Flare's docks, and many other exciting features.

And uh,

http://img848.imageshack.us/img848/8...lysiumnure.png

here's one of Earl's big hole in the ground

I was gonna do one of that airship/tower Bit and Shy did BUT I COULDN'T FIND IT, anyone who likes is welcome to download these FULL SIZE RENDERS

Elysium, 2 maps, about 40MB

and post that or any other projects you feel like cropping out.

Fifthfiend 04-03-2011 06:09 PM

Next up from Arcanos is Earl's SKYBOX

http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/6...rcanosnurs.png

it is a SKYBOX

Full renders:

Arcanos, 2 maps, 8MB

And it is back home to Terra to showcase the central area

http://img808.imageshack.us/img808/3...erranblcen.png

featuring Mags' new SKYPOOL as well as my modest tower and our new COMMUNITY CENTER and Bit's Wily castle (from an angle that doesn't show off the skull at all but OH WELL TOO BAD) and other acts of egregious architecture

Next up just over from TDK's treefort

http://img859.imageshack.us/img859/3...erranblshy.png

is Shy's latest foray into ADVANCED DRAGONOMICS (work in progress!)

And then back over here to this newly developing area

featuring projects by Thadius, Nikose, and Vyper!

http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/5...erranurbit.png

FULL RENDERS

Terra, 2 maps, 65MB

That is about it from this round but again I encourage anyone who wants to showcase anything I left out to download the full maps and crop out anything you'd like to post here.

I've been wondering, how do you get the pictures of the maps?

Fifthfiend 04-03-2011 09:34 PM

There are several programs that will generate this sort of image from a minecraft world folder. http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Programs_and_Editors has a pretty comprehensive list. The one I use is MCMap because it's 1. surprisingly fast and 2. pretty. (if you use that one on your own map I recommend using skylighting, noise:4, and increased y-ratio.)
