I'd just leave it be. I think it was pretty clear from in-game that reasonable discourse is pretty much out of the question.

What on earth

*checks*

UGH not having this, guys, do remember that I do have server logs?

Doc Ock Rokc, please don't tell people to shut the fuck up, Nikose, please don't call people idiots.

Differing opinions about bugfixes can be discussed without that sort of thing. Next time I see this from one of you I'm handing out an ingame ban.

I can see where people are annoyed over this, but the booster rails are a far more elegant option. Especially if they get a power-up now.

The question is how much of a power-up, like, "is it reasonably practical to go up a hill now". Given his previous ideas in this regard - IE powered (hahahaha) minecarts, and the booster rails that were underpowered in the first place, I don't really have a lot of confidence in him doing so.

In any case it doesn't really matter what Notch does since - per my original post and contrary to Marc's claims - I'm not really wasting a lot of time getting worked up about it; I'm just installing Minecart Mania and cranking the boost on powered rails so high they'll be launching people into the sun.

Melfice 05-13-2011 03:54 PM

That's a fair enough point.
Going up a hill has rarely been a point for me anyway. If it's more than three blocks up, I tend to start tunnelling anyway, so I can see how people going up big mountains might be a tad more peeved.

But, yeah. We'll see how much of a boost the boosters are getting.

Nikose Tyris 05-13-2011 04:03 PM

I've got the ratio figured out to where I think is equivelent- 7 booster rails seems to balance out to the bugboosters.

I've been doing 3 powered / 1 normal / 3 powered / 1 normal / 3 powered, and then a long stretch of normal track.

A set of 6 can move you up a 9 cell high incline with speed to spare.

it's been working out rather cleanly, actually.

Are you comparing them to single-carted or double-cart-stacked boosters?

Nikose Tyris 05-13-2011 04:10 PM

Single Cart. I crash on using the double cart stacked boosters and can't get an accurate judgement on the speed.

Some mine cart specialists say that double boosters are basically single minecart squared.

also on the uphill bit

So, On the topic of things that answer exactly nothing, We have Doc. Thank you doc.

edit: Like, I thought i was being really clear that I'm not talking about the bugboosters, but the standard rail boosters. I'm aware of how fast those boosters go, and worked out how to do it without using the bugbooster.

Edit2: although to be fair the sentence actually answers a lot more and i hsouldn't have been dismissive. Apologies. x4, with the way the rail boosters work... this will take some sciencing.

[I'm also trying to account for lag-loss- I seem to go a shorter distance on the server then on single player.]

Taking the server down for bukkit-related upgrades, maintenance, and testing.

Ideally back up in an hour-ish.
