The Valentines Thread of hooray

NO WHINING I guess you can if you want.

Anyway I love looking at dorky Valentines stuff so I thought I'd share these MGS ones I found with you guys:http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs71/i/20...ha-d36te2f.jpg

So I figured we could have a general Valentines day discussion kind of thread. Share dorky valentines, tell stories, did anyone do nice things for you, did you go out and get drunk, whatever.

Are these suitably dorky

A story: For one year my lover and I did cheesy Valentine's day stuff every single day except on Valentine's day. It was fun.

Endeavor to cherish each other unequivocally!

PS. Them's some cute cards dere.

My guyfriend and I are going to Fisherman's Wharf for lunch, and checking some other stuff out. I forget what. It's his plan. I honestly didn't even realize it was going to be on Valentine's until someone else pointed it out. I can't figure if he's thinking of it as a Valentine's date or just a regular date, and if I should do anything special for it.

That reminds me of that old SNL bit with Rachel Dracht and Will Ferrel.

I heard one time the gift hierarchy for women goes like this:

Shiny
Tasty
Pretty

Girlfriend is not fond of any of the generic idealisms of Valentines: cut flowers are murder and worthless to her because they die, she has ample jewellery and hates when I buy her more, and all the candies are either high in fat/sugars or have gelatin which she refuses to eat.

So I got her a toy well from Schliech and bought her minecraft. This was apparently a good gift choice as she's been nose deep in her laptop playing minecraft for the last 3 days.

I'm going out today to help my friend plan a romantic evening with his girlfriend. They've been together for 4 months and he's going all-out; Tablecloth, Candles, Flowers, cooking dinner, and chasing everyone out of the apartment. [All the upstairs roommates are going to be downstairs at my place now. :(] This morning, we're picking up wine to go with that dinner, and I put together a mix CD of music for the event.

And my girlfriend stopped me from putting Sir Mixalot's I like big butts on the CD which kind of ruined my fun.

Well it's a bit late to plan anything, but I would say don't let that stop you. Do something simple; get his favorite desert ready and have that at your place after dinner, get a quick gift that you know he'll like, the key is just to go the extra mile cause he's your special someone.

OOH, OOH, make him a mix tape! That always worked in like...the 80s?

My lady and I did Valentines on Saturday, rather than the actual monday. Didn't do much, exchanged some gifts, saw the most romantic film currently playing at the cinema, The Fighter, and then watched Take Me Out, where one man attempted to seduce thirty ladies by dressing up in drag.

It's now Valentines, and we're doing what we do every monday: Going to lectures and sleeping.

I'm disappointed nobody has 2 dates booked at the same time at restaurants on the opposite ends of town.

In Finland Valentine's day has transformed into day about friendship. People remember their friends and stuff like that.

It's little bit easier to singles to handle this day, you see. Lonely people on other hand...
