I don't speak/read German, so I just have to take IG at his word. Since he's a native German speaker living in Germany, I don't think my trust is all that misplaced.
It's interesting how much debate there can be over this though :) I guess German is a complicated language. Also, how inaccurate can Erin's dialog be if two people who don't speak German natively (Melfice here and someone in another forum on another site) are able to translate it and get the meaning of it pretty much exactly right? |
It's perfectly accurate actually, no reason to worry there. In fact I'm comfortable saying it's better than many commercial translations you get here, especially in comics. Just there are still points where it's noticably a translation rather than native-sounding speech. :)

I'm kinda wanting to put Erin in more pages now :D
She'll be in it again, but it was gonna be awhile. I'll have to figure out a way to have her do some more stuff here in a few pages. I'm not sure what though :P |
You could make another one of those advertisements, this one starring Erin. ;)
|
What would she sell? Hmm..

Alternatively, because it's so horribly and deliciously wrong, top-quality sauerkraut. Because it helps he concentrate when firing a sniper rifle...? |
Maybe it's an advert for a translation book and it makes fun of the inevitable controversy that comes w/ translations? :D

I'd love to see the others trying to talk to Erin in some broken way. Maybe just throw in some Babelfish German translations while Erin herself talks „real“ German ^^
Anyone remember the game „Curse of the Chocolate Fountain“? |
I actually just had an idea for it, and was gonna type it up here in the forums, but I think I might just do it and surprise ya all with it :D
It's sorta that..but kind of the opposite :D |
