Anima: Beyond Fantasy...Should I get into it?

So, April 1st-3rd; going to my local Anime Convention...Anime Detour.

Hoping to have enough cash for the Vendor's room and considering two things.

The first is finding either the 8 Slayers Light Novels Tokyo Pop brought over but discontinued doing due to low sales or a DVD pack of the Slayers OVAs/Movies.

The other is the books for Anima: Beyond Fantasy and was wondering if this was worth even getting into? Anyone have any experience with it? Would appreciate the input if my money would be better spent on a different PnP RPG, thanks!

When talking books> I am talking the Roleplaying game. Not the Card Game or Battle Miniatures. Been doing some research but want to talk to people who've played it to tell me what they think.

It's a pretty good system. Setting's unique, and quite fun once you get used to it. The major stumbling block is chargen, mainly because it's so complex and variable. I'd try focusing solely on a single supernatural discipline at first until you grok it before moving to another.

The combat charts can be intimidating but they're really just there so you don't have to use a calculator in battle. It runs pretty fast if you're on the ball.

Thanks. Though I heard you might want to make copies of the charts for your friends so they don't need to do the work and then there is a d100...is that even sold in gaming stores or at anime cons where they sell the table-top game stuff? O_O

I really have nothing to say to help you either way. I just wanted to comment that I first read this thread as enema: beyond fantasy.

That is just bad and I spent last Monday cleaning out for a Colonoscopy so I'd rather NOT think about that!

So, anyone got anything to contribute besides enemas?

You just roll 2d10.

You've heard of percentile dice, right?
