1-3 is a buy.
4-6 is you staying away from the game.

WHAT COULD GO WRONG?

You know, I might consider a d20, but what skill modifier would I use? And for that matter what's the DC? These are important questions to use before any die is rolled. After all, we're not talking about boggle here.

Finally got down to the underworld, spent ages just mining hellstone. Now I have a flamarang (best weapon!), a molten pickaxe and a molten hamaxe.

It kind of makes my phaseblade really useless though. I should've spent those meteor bits on more armor...

Roll a d20 against Will.
DC is... 15, since you're very much on the fence.

EDIT: 1 = Buying the 4 pack (if that's still available)
20 = Con somebody else into buying it for you. (Roll Bluff against their Sense Motive)

My biggest complaint about the game so far is the fact that the difficulty curve just kind of... plateaus. I mean, you hit a certain point and suddenly nothing can touch you. My Flamarang let me take down the Eye of Cthulu in about a minute, and then I went straight over to some corruption to kill an Eater of Worlds, again with no trouble at all. Now I have demonite armor too which compounds my unkillable-ness.

I haven't even found a Jungle biome yet. The wiki tells all kinds of stories about awesome items you can find in there. Of course, the only one I really give a damn about at this point is the Ivy Whip, since I literally have every other item in the game that matters to me, but it's the principle of the thing.

I have about 10 heart containers that I can't use because I'm at max health.

This is after 10ish hours of play. I think I've gotten my money's worth out of the game now, but dammit I want to see some new content soon.

EDIT: Maxed out Mana. My current loadout is the Meteor Set, which gives me mana boosts, and I also make lots of use of Starfury and Vilethorn. Flamarang is still the best weapon of all time though the Minishark with Meteor Shot is pretty sweet.

Just made Skeletron my bitch. Thinking of fighting the Eater of Worlds for a 4th time to see how quickly I can beat it. Anybody know if the difficulty scales with the number of players? Because they really need to do something about the difficulty curve... honestly, your starting gear is useless, you find new stuff through sheer luck, and by the endgame nothing poses a challenge to you at all. My pickaxe does more damage than the starter sword. THE PICKAXE.

I keep going to the underworld and getting my ass handed to me by fire Imps that can teleport. I own all the gold armor and whatnot, don't know what I can or should do to improve my survival chances.

The great thing about fire imps is that you can shoot their fireballs out of the air with any weapon. I was just sitting pretty, swinging a golden pick in their general direction while my mouse cursor was pointed behind me mining the hellstone.

Of course when you actually have to kill them all you need to do is keep attacking them, since they're stunned for a second or two after each hit. Keep swinging your sword and they can't teleport away.

Fight the bosses for demonite, or find a meteorite and get meteoric gear. Either one is a step up from gold, and eyethulhu is a cakewalk in an open area. Just bring some kind of ranged weapon and lots of ammo. (Edit: If you have starfury from any of the floating islands, it's better than him. He cries little demon tears all over the landscape.)

Demonite gear will also require shadow scales from eater of worlds. It's a melee oriented set that has more defense than the meteor stuff, which is mage oriented.

So Zetaplays is doing a LP of this game...

McTahr 05-22-2011 11:12 AM

Hey so if anyone stumbles across a cobalt leggings, I'd gladly trade stuff and things for it, including the other two pieces. I've been committing nothing less than hornet genocide to no avail.

So I've kinda proven myself to myself by finally beating the Eye of Cthulu and the Eater of Worlds. Having lots of Healing Potions helps.

Got waaaay more Demonite than what I thought possible, so now I have a full demon set of tools/weapons(Not armor, as not only did I get those as drops, the Mining Helmet is still really useful).

Ended up finding a Musket while smashing Shadow Orbs and used my gold to buy a Minishark. Gonna probably make Meteor Shots for ammo(because holy crap it is ultra-tedious to buy musket balls).

Oh, right, meteors! I've made a Hamaxe from that junk, and I'll probably make a Space Gun, too, now that I know how. I'll probably make some armor of it, too, since the Space Gun uses Mana, I think.
