Managed to complete the dungeon, got Hermes boots and Muramasa.
Then goblins invaded, I fought them off, and found out I had Rocket Boots now! Yes, I did fall to my death after goofing off with the Rocket Boots on the first try. |

Ah, the wonders of the lucky horseshoe... Although I've recently traded it for bigger and better things, and end up killing myself from fall damage occasionally, there's a little trick you can do with the grapnel that can save your life if you have time.
It's a bit counterintuitive, though... Bear with me, you're falling at terminal velocity, right? Fire your grapnel at the ground rapidly approaching to draw yourself towards it at high speed! Higher speed, actually. It won't kill you though! In fact, you'll be just fine. PHYSICS! |
That would be great except I have yet to get a hook from the skeletons I keep genociding. I also became victim to the glitch where breaking a shadow orb summons the Eye of Douchebag, of course I had kill myself by being right on the edge of the explosion from the dynamite so I was taken by surprise back at my house.
And my temporary non-progress goal is to not die when I try to get to a third shadow orb. |
It took me about 9 Shadow Orbs before I could get an Orb of Light. Must be payback for getting the grappling hook easily.
Found both the jungle and underworld today. I also seemed to have caused a glitch where if you link too many sources of water together to flow down, the game kinda forgets how much water is supposed to be there, and just keeps flowing. The game eventually caught on to the problem and made most of the water still dumping out vanish(like, literally went from underwater to mid-air), but the underworld is still partially flooded. Considering all the lava, NOT complaining. |
Finally built my gaming PC. If anyone could shoot me either the details for NPF's Terraria or Minecraft servers (Fifth or Nikose I'm assuming) I should be all set by tomorrow night.
For anyone interested: AMD Phenom 2 X4 975 3.6Ghz Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti 40GB SSD 1TB 7200RPM HDD |
I'm pretty certain we don't have a Terraria server in the first place, actually(or I am dumb and missed something).

Would flooding the underworld with water make the excursion easier? Because I have a fuckton of water that is not that far from it at all (the result of getting pissed of when little pools of water didn't make the lava fields easy to harvest obsidian from).
|
I think there's probably some point at which the game decides "This water's been flowing for too long. Is it flowing out? Is there still more than half of it left? Fuck it, let's estimate." And then it just skips to the end.
I managed to flood a massive lava-filled pit once by accident this way. I drained 3 good-sized chambers of water into a single massive basin, and then started dumping it toward the lava I was going to farm. Then the game lagged, and about 10 seconds later the entire chamber went from a slowly-filling pool to completely flooded. Considering how draining water physics must be (lol pun), I'm okay with the compromise. And I mean, it's exploitable, assuming it actually exists and isn't just my imagination. |
Well, I have a hamachi server I keep running in the background because it ain't no thang.
Just join NPF Bits / FPN on Hamachi, then use that IP listed (I'm Grabblenab on there) to join the server in-game. Password should also be FPN. I can self-connect/etc. but I don't think anyone's tried to connect that I've been around to notice. (Large world, universal NPC/crafting hut set up to the right of the spawn. There is an "elevator" (re:long long fall) that leads straight down into the underworld to the right of that. The landing should end in a bowl of water and not kill you. If it doesn't, someone's been'a griefin'. Rest of the world is fair game.) |
