I'll try the server once I get done with my hellworld and dungeon shenanigans.
|
So hey, a little thing I discovered. Just a little thing.
Namely. Breaking a shadow orb sends reverberating waves throughout the world. And if you are of decent health and the time is nighttime, then these waves go wake up a particular eyeball. And if you don't know what the message "You feel an evil presence watching you" signifies, then you just might be completely SCREWED. Especially if you decide to summon him all on your own before he can wander over. Cause then you'll be fighting two. And it's not exactly the best thing to be doing. |
Same thing happened to me on my second attempt (first try was orb triggered and put me completely off guard). I just thought that using the suspicious eye reset the natural spawn trigger for the boss and all would be well.
Then I was dead a few minutes later. Also no home is complete without a Hellforge. |

He can't, because then you wouldn't be connected to him.
ANYWAY, you have to download a program called Hamachi, then join an existing network, then use the name 'NPF Bits' and the password 'FPN'. It wasn't working when I tried it just now, but it's 6 am, so there's possible reason for that. |
I'm pinging you just fine through Hamachi, Krylo, and port forwarding is set-up. Hm hm.
Basically, Shy, Hamachi creates a VPN for us, which allows us to act like a network, kind of as if we were LAN'd, except across the interbuttz and with encryption and passwords and stuff. Once you're connected to the Hamachi network you should be able to connect to me through 5.247.134.192, but Krylo's having issues so I'ma jank around with it. E: Krylo, they changed the server port in the last update, which I apparently didn't have even though I shut the server down after a power outage and yelled* at Steam the day after they released it. Doing stuff and then should be good. Asked nicely for the update. EE: Patched, updated, rebooted. Self-connecting fine and showing the right port now. That was prolly it. >.> EEE: And it kinda has to use all the jib-jab stuff, sorry. Basically, they don't have any good support for multiplayer aside from "It's there!" right now because we got an early release and even just host-names is out of the question. Steam integration would be a plus but they didn't get around to doing it before the release. I'm also noticing tiny desyncs now. No me gusta. |
I still seem to be unable to connect to the terraria server. I got hamachi connected okay, but terraria is timing out when I try to join your server.

Terraria is hilariously a minecraft ripoff but it's ALSO super fun so IDGAF, voting goodgame. |
All firewall, port forwarding, and everything else is set up. I've set up exceptions for anything on Terraria ports and checked with a bunch of troubleshooting thingers. If it's not working at this point after this then I'm not sure.
