Are you Tom Petty?

I think not.

Which is technically a 100% factual statement.

Maybe? I'd say calling it bricking when it's actually "The console still technically works it just can't play retails discs, so you still have the time to transfer all your data to a safe storage device before getting a replacement" is more than a little misleading. There's a large gap between what the statement implies and what is actually going on. The "technical" definition of bricking implies that it loses all functionality.

my guess is that "After update Xbox 360 still technically works it just can't play retails discs, so you still have the time to transfer all your data to a safe storage device before getting a replacement" is too long to fit in the thread title box so he just shortened it to "bricks"

There are plenty of other, better ways of wording it that aren't incredibly misleading and don't disregard what bricking generally is accepted to mean.

Oh. I thought it was actually bricking stuff, and that you were objecting to the low numbers that were involved.

I would still call discs being unreadable a pretty hefty bricking. But that's just my opinon.

Bricking means complete lack of functionality, i.e. it is as useful as a brick.

Fairly sure you could still play games on demand and other downloaded titles, which means only partial functionality was lost.

I am aware of the definition that Nonsy is operating under.

I also have heard the term "bricked" to simply mean "broken."
