Yeah. I have seen people do the craziest things with it. I find that air blasting a target and quick switching to it alows you to get in a cheep shot though.

Yeah, that's what I mean though: you could do the same with the shotgun and at the range where you can airblast you'd probably do more damage with the shots.

Puff. blast. Flare 90+20+60(over time) Its cheep as fuck but its effective if you can get it right.

Yeah, it looks like the Detonator takes the Flaregun's burning and semi-Axtinguisher power, and the Shotgun's wide-angle range, at the cost of slightly less power, and more explosion damage.

I'm going to go on record here saying that I wish they'd do something about afterburn to make it suck less. For me it tends to be much less of a damage-dealer and more of a way to cause chaos (because people will be a little more panicked if they're taking damage) and a way to mark targets for myself (Flare Gun or Axtinguisher crits). So if the Detonator DOES actually set stuff on fire when it airbursts, then that's neat, but it still won't bring me over from the Flare Gun side.

Degreaser + Flare Gun is still the best because the Flare Gun has a cooldown, not a reload time - basically, it reloads while you change weapons. Q-flaregun-Q, burn stuff for a bit, Q-flaregun-Q, repeat as desired.

EDIT: Hold the phone, does The Detonator minicrit burning people when it explodes?

I think it does, but also introducing a long-range fireburst will give the pyro more power over low-health classes like scout and spy, it may also work as a way to damage sentries without being in front of the sentries.

I want it.

With all the benefits of the detonator I really don't mind the increased explosion damage. It can either explode into burning a team/minicrit the team or full crit a single target. AND airjump. This might effectively replace the backburner for me as the primary pyro weapon. I'm so excite!

Like you said, people on fire tend to panic. Add mini-crits to the factor and it'll be all the sweeter! Lot of people seem to forget the added mayhem a good pyro can cause..not just with damage but dispersing the other team to slow their progress. Detonator pleases Skweeb.

personally I'd rather have an equipment that reduces knockback from enemy weapons so an uber pyro can make a straight sentry run

The "increased explosion damage" only applies to damage you cause to yourself.

I'm pretty sure the drawback is that the regular flare (not exploded) only minicrits a burning opponent, rather than the full crit.

...I spend a lot of time flaresniping so it's a tough decision for me, but for most people it seems like a straight upgrade.
