I wasn't left with only my pantaloons! Let's Play Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts

Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts, infamously known as a very hard SNES game. As an avid gamer I have heard of this game, but I have never played it. I have never even played Ghosts 'n Goblins, the predecessor to this, or any of the games in this series. The most experience I have with this game is using Arthur, the main character, in Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

I am doing a blind play through on Professional difficulty of this game. I initially only use save states at checkpoints, so I can break apart the video and take breaks. Though now when a level is taking to long I'll use a state to give myself a reasonable check point.

Since I'm going in blind, I don't know anything about this game besides what I've picked up from Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and any old knowledge I may have had about this game from what I've heard. I'm not even Googling.

Story wise, Sir Arthur is saving Queen/Princess ______ from some Ghouls. That's all I've got.

Level 2: Worst Level Combo

Level 3 Part 1: Jumps are Still Difficult

Level 3 Part 2: Wherein I Get Frustrated

Question: Is it harder than the NES version or relatively easy in comparison?

I believe it is considered much harder.

Since you're playing on PROFESSIONAL

Here's a protip: The crossbow is the only slightly useful weapon besides the knives, and it's not terrific. Without bronze or gold armor it sucks in more ways than I can easily descibe, but if you do get the homing bolts you can abuse the crap out of not having to aim. It's excellent against the very hardest enemies, who move a lot, and in boss fights where you want to move a lot. Not great when they go after the wrong enemy or get locked in an orbit around an enemy, but that's the price. Most of the weapons have some kind of attempt at balance, like the crappier ones have fantastic gold armor specials, but it's not like you can beat basic firepower.

Also, I recommend jumping around at every point of the screen you can reach to find hidden chests. The more chests you open the faster you get armor upgrades. I think.

Otherwise, good luck on the insanely Nintendo hard journey before you.

As you will see in this segment, fuck the upgraded crossbow.

Level 3 Part 2: Wherein I Get Frustrated

I'm already thinking of another LP, and since Ghouls 'n Ghost doesn't warrant much discussion, may as well mention it here.

I'm either going to play Hydrophobia: Prophecy for the first time since I just bought it. So me just commenting and talking as I play through a recently released game (It's a released of something from September).

Or a screenshot LP of Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town. This one would use voting to control how I play the game on a roughly week by week basis of in game time. Done through a story-like journal system (Since that is what the save system is designed as) It is entirely possible if I do this I'll still do Hydrophobia, since I'll probably play it regardless, or something simple like Vectorman to throw on YouTube.

Edit - Oops, thought I uploaded something and didn't post it here. So the repost wasn't really needed.

If you want to play something different you you should play Demon's Crest. Which is sort of a spin-off of that game. Only it doesn't want to kill you as hard and you are controlling a goddamn Gargoyle instead of a little knight. Also: It's a fantastic game.

So far the LP is actually fun. Listening to you losing is hypnotic. Just turn your TV off when you're recording, that can be pretty annoying.

About the part with the lava pillars and spiked bone platforms, it occurred to me: this is a test. This will prove you are a true man.

Also, urgh, HM:FoMT. I watched _mike play that for a while. It got to the point where in real life if he wasn't doing something, he started to get stressed out about wasting time. Then his save got corrupted and he got better.

He had named his farm Weed Farm and was feeding one of the girls in town grass because she liked grass, I guess.

Level 4: The Lost Video

The thing I kept worrying about happened, so it actually looks like I'm not bad at this game.

I'm only half-way through the new video, and I feel robbed that we didn't get to see the first time the entire world turned to spikes and killed you.

Wow. Wow game designers. Giving the player motion sickness is not an intended feature of Mode 7; you're not supposed to do it intentionally.
