Don't mind my intellect...

OUR BIGGEST PERK AND GREATEST DOWNFALL:

Human emotion and drive. Greed, love, power hungry, lust, happiness, hatred, jealousy, anger, sorrow. We have been gifted with the ability to "feel" one would say. EVERY major and minor issue is at fault to human emotion and drive.

i.e. wars = greed, hatred, jealousy. These are basis for wars.

We are all individualistic and think differently. When it comes to it, I do not wish to give up the fact that we can "feel". Nothing good has REALLY come out of having emotions and strong drives. Well more bad than good. Even love has it's pain. The fact that we can "feel" is great. Using it we can understand one another, think ahead from observing behavioral patterns. Its really the only thing that binds the human race together. But with the cause of wars, and endless pseudo happiness, I'm wondering if it's sorta worth it. If we gave up our right to "feel" we'd become what we are in a lesser form: Animals.
I dunno tell me what you think on this. So....Questions, thoughts, answers, beliefs, missions and desire?

I believe the key is not lack of emotions but control of them. We must learn how to control and even get rid of emotions and rely more on logic and reason

did you just see Equilibrium? (if anyone hasnt, go see it and you'll be ready for some Christian Bale as Batman ass kickin)

Fierien 05-25-2004 02:01 PM

To tell people to reason is like telling a dog to meow. It goes against human will. You can't force anyone to do anything. (Human drive) Its inevitable, we had this talk on Sunday. ^_^

lol yes my love however if you recall I also said it would be away to solve it. Humans must be willing to listen. Also we will need to solve problems like over population and energy shortages

Bringing out a bunch of huge weapons and threatening them to get along, is NOT GOING TO WORK. Maybe for one point and time people will unite to rise up against you but thats it. Human will, and emotion is untamable and always different based on an action/reaction phase. If people were clones and all felt the same, well lets face it, its not like that. What you are speaking of is a complete utopian society which is impossible to achieve, the closest we got was communism and as you can tell that has a whole mess of problems.

Krylo 05-25-2004 02:33 PM

Nothing good has ever come of human drive and emotion? How about indoor plumbing, homes, electricity, comedy, philosophy, the very ability for you to argue about whether or not anything good has come from it?

Aerozord 05-25-2004 02:35 PM

in therory communism works but then again it didn't do to human nature. Would you get off the megalomenia thing I was simpley stating a few things. Now it is human nature to fight we are a warrior race, but it keeps us strong. The genetically (and enviromentally) superior replace the weak. Those allowing the species to evolve and grow. We have wars because needs aren't met. If you had the land and resources you wouldn't be fighting for it.

Sporting events and video games have already shown us that we can relieve our violent tendancies in a safe non-lethal way. The key to peace is more land for all.

Osterbaum 05-25-2004 02:35 PM

I thinks, that throwing away our feelings isn't a good thing. We don't trie to change our selves too much, but learn to live with our selves. Now that what I think we should do.

Fierien 05-25-2004 02:43 PM

To Krylo:Hahaha this is partially true, but i believe the stuff you listed comes more from intellect and need than emotion.

To Aerozord: *smiles* I know, you still want big weapons anyway. But peace is a very hard thing to achieve. Very hard. And some wars are started because ppl are threatened, where is the basis for need of land for that?

To Osterbaum: Agreed. I don't believe we should throw away our emotions, I believe that we can't It's very hard to have and maintain the negative than the good. It is easier to be bad than be good.
