Dragon Ball RP interest thread of interest re: roleplaying Dragon Ball
 

So I have this idea for a Dragon Ball RP. Specifically, a story set roughly around the era of Dragon Ball Online, which for those of you unaware of its existence is a fairly shitty MMO only available in Korea and Taiwan, but with all creative aspects of its story and universe overseen by Akira Toriyama himself. It also completely strikes GT from canon, so it's already aces in my book in that regard.

The setting also allows for a greater diversity of established character types to play as. For instance, if you want to be a Namekian or Majin, there is already an easy canon reason for such a character to be living on Earth without having to overthink it. But it also allows for all the nifty sorts of weird characters seen pre-DBZ, when it was a more innocent, nearly Saiyan-free time.

The story will involve the classic "competing with bad guys to collect the dragon balls" basis with the fate of the world traditionally at stake. It will mostly not involve giving a shit about power levels or fights that take for-freakin'-ever to end, and just when you think they do someone breaks out their EVEN MORE ULTIMATE FINAL FORM and we have to start all over again.

Just about any sort of character is welcome, be it the plucky treasure hunting adventurer, the kickass tournament fighting martial artist, or even the morally ambiguous ne'er-do-well on the wrong side of the law (in fact, if you're interested in something along the lines of that last one, get in touch with me because I have some ideas for such a character's role in the plot).

I will also be happy to clarify any questions regarding the overall setting, but I'll probably go into it all in more detail anyway should there be enough interest for me to start a sign-up thread.

So, anyone into it?

Oh man, I've been looking for something like this for a while. Just the place if I want to be someone along the lines of Hercule(or Mr Satan if we're going by Japan), probably like a rabid fan of his. Dude might be all sorts of goofy, but before the Saiyans, Namekians, Majin, Kai...etc. showed up, the guy was a STAR and still is during the series. Someone trying to emulate the guy sounds like it'd be fun to play.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention: You cannot choose to play as a Saiyan.

Playing as a human, however, might yield unexpected results.

I love 'at your own risk' warnings, if that's what you mean. Plus, if you're a main character, then at least you're at least one step above the usual cannon fodder for the bad guys of the series. So my response is? BRING IT ON!

Well, the only risk is the very high chance that nothing particularly eventful will happen outside of normal RP shenanigans.
