"If You Were Alive In The Nineties" or "YTV Was Awesome Back Then!"

So it's like, two in the morning and I had my sister, who totally watched Sailor Moon on YTV when she was young, say "I don't care about your shows." i've had a similar vibe every time I've discussed Are You Afraid Of The Dark, or Goosebumps. Not to mention the shite I;ve got 'ta deal with fer remembering The Secret World Of Alex Mack or Shirley Holmes - who my oldest brother thought was totally hot back in the day. Then you've got Aah! Real Monsters! and Beast Wars and Reboot which were rad as hell!

i mean what've you got now?! My Little Pony?! You think that holds a candle to Are You Afraid Of The Dark!?

EDIT If you think any kids show you bring up now holds a candle to Rugrats, you're wrong.

EDIT EDIT Fucking Sonic Underground.

Like, when I was a kid, I never read any of Sherlock Holmes' books - I was always more into Wishbone - but Shirley Holmes was the first strong, clever, female protagonist around.

Seil, no other decade of childrens shows had Adventure Time. They all have already lost to 2010-2020.

That said fuck yeah Aaah Real Monsters, Alex Mack, Beast Wars and Reboot. Also Rocko's Modern Life and The Adventures of Pete and Pete. And the beginning of the DCAU, those were some great show,s though I think they hit their best in the JL shows which were in the 2000s.

Seil, I don't know whether to hate you or love for dragging this out of the ground. YTV was a staple of my childhood.

Also hey, contributin':

Super Human Samurai Syber-Squad
Big Bad Beetleborgs

I lived for Super Human Samurai Syber-Squad, and in fact still have my gold Servo action figure (somewhere). Not so much the Beetleborgs, but goddamn were they awesome.

And I know the video has the Fox Kids logo up top, but seriously, fuck Fox Kids.

I blame the Angry Beavers for instilling in me a lifelong love of cheesy 50s and 60s sci-fi and a habit of making silly noises at random.

Hey. Hey guys.

It's called Nickelodeon.

Bard The 5th LW 08-12-2011 12:45 AM

Im going to bring up Adventure Time and Regular Show right off the bat to nullify your argument.

e: but yeah, Rugrats and Ahhh Real Monsters and their ilk were nice.

Seil 08-12-2011 01:13 AM

I liked Adventure Time before it was cool.

Up here in Canada we don't have your fancy Nickelodeons and Cartoon Networks. No we have to make due with YTV and Teletoon! And we have to walk 50 kilometers uphill just to get to our TVs!! And in 3 meters of snow too!!!!!!

Jagos 08-12-2011 02:31 AM

Were you barefoot too Granpa?

Seil 08-12-2011 02:55 AM

It's Canada he's talking about. So...

Yes.
