Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

I never asked for this... having to wait until Friday until I can play, that is. You lucky Americans get it in about 9 hours.

It's the vanguard of the post-summer games drought and the reviews coming in are all very positive. A prequel to one of the most acclaimed PC (and later consoles) games ever, and punching random people is extremely satisfying. You should look into getting it. And discussing it here.

I played a little bit of the original (first time) last week. Pretty decent looking game, and by 'looking' I entirely mean gameplay, because hoo-boy it LOOKS like shit.

On an almost total impulse I pre-ordered and pre-loaded Human Revolution on Steam last night. So assuming the pre-loading works fine, I expect to have more thoughts at midnight!

How did you get it to work? If I remember right we have more or less the same set ups, and when I tried to run the original everything was moving at double speed and it was shitty and obnoxious as a result.

Looking online told me it was issues with quadcore processors or some such shit. I never did get it working right, though.

Same. It was on sale for 10% off and I was like "Blah blah guess I'll check it out" and then gameplay trailers and other various trailers and I was like "Welp, guess I'm out 45 dollars."

I don't know if it'll help, but this is what I used to update the game and it's worked fine on my computer which has multi-cores.

EDIT: And yeah, the original has some great game-play. But the graphics are shit for current systems.

Oh, I tend to play retro titles on my laptop, though my laptop is quadcore too. Weird...

Also the retail box PC copy uses Steamworks, so pretty much, you are up-charging yourself $5 by getting the retail box copy. Unless you waited whatever months for the price drop.

Or if you wanted to pay the extra $5 for some pre-order bonuses that weren't TF2 items for some reason that makes no sense.

Anyway, the only other pre-downloaded, play-on-release-day game I've gotten on Steam was Portal 2 (and thanks to the ARG the release time was all crazy), so I just want to clarify: Deus Ex will activate at midnight PST right?

Specterbane 08-22-2011 08:08 PM

Yeah, that seems to be the case according to Steam. I won't get to play it till tomorrow afternoon, what with working and all. So I'm probably checking out of this thread for a while to avoid any spoilers like the plague.

bu-dum-tish

Grandmaster_Skweeb 08-23-2011 11:32 AM

played it for about three hours last night and I must say: fuckin love this game already.

Melfice 08-23-2011 11:40 AM

I've had the Collector's Edition pre-ordered since last July.
It's releasing here on the 26th.

I CANNOT WAIT, AAAARGH ETERNITY WHY DOEST THOU TORMENT ME SO!?

I just hope Nedgame won't fuck up my order. Or the mail. Or whatever.
Seriously, you'd think I was cursed, or something.
