"Our dreams" or "What the hell is wrong with me?"
Have you guys had dreams that were so real that you remember them when you wake up? Well I have had the same type of dream for several years now:
I am back in either high school or college, and I am doing alright in my classes. In fact I am getting A's and and some B's. Then I realize that there is one class that I have been scheduled for and I have not been attending it, and I can only gruduate if I pass that this class. So I try desperately to find the class, but no matter where I look I cannot find it, so I end up not graduating because I could not find that fricking class! It is really troubling, and I have it once or twice a month, though my most recent version I graduated but I could not find my car. :aaa: Am I the only one that has dreams like that, and if so what the hell is wrong with me? Should I seek professional help? :ohdear: |
You only ought to seek help if you have one or two of these other dreams as well:
1) Teeth are falling out 2) Trying to drive your car, but swerving a bunch, or being in the back seat, or similar. (Note: I'm not serious. These are just common stress dreams that many people have.) |
My psych professor told me a while back that dreams shouldn't be interpreted by specific things within the dream so much as the basic emotions involved. Dreams about missing classes mean stress about school, dreams where someone important to you dies/is harmed are caused by worrying about that person for one reason or another, etc.

I get a dream similar to yours quite often actually. I happens around the time I have an exam or an audition or somewhat, where I can't find the class that I'm supposed to have my exam in, or that I get sidetracked often or there's something blocking my path to get to my exam.
Teeth falling out is a very recurring nightmare for me, and it's especially scary since I need my teeth IRL not only to eat and not look like a dufus, but also to play the saxophone. I also often dream about driving a car and being super stressed about it because I do not have a driver's permit in real life, and I always feel like the cops are on my tail. |

My Dream Self has either died or gone to sleep permanently... I haven't had a recurring dream since high school.
I would be falling. Just falling. Sometimes I'd wake up before I hit the ground, sometimes I'd wake up WHEN I hit the ground, sometimes I'd land safely in the back of a pickup truck (I would be falling above an east-west road near where I grew up, and sometimes a blue pickup like the one my dad used to drive would be driving on that stretch of road, and I'd land safely in it, law of conservation of momentum be damned, it was a dream). But yeah... I don't dream anymore, but rarely. I hate this. I wish I could dream again. |

That would make sense, except that I have not been in school in over nine years. I graduated cum laude with honors in political science. Could it be that I feel that I missed something at school, or perhaps that I should go back for some reason? It has something to do with that because I also have dreams where I am ready to go somewhere but I cannot find my shoes or my glasses. Or maybe I am just really screwed up. |
