So I wanna do a LP of Deus Ex

and want some thoughts, opinions, suggestions on the matter.

For one I am gonna do a video LP, cause its easier for me. I'm actually rather gabby when I play games and I just find video easier. Thinking of doing it as an inner monologue kind of thing rather then the usual narrative. Just wish I knew of a way to modify the audio to get that echo effect you often get when a character is thinking.

Now what I'm asking is, one, do you think the above is a good idea. Two, how should I focus my character? This is meant to be a blind run, ie my first playthrough, though I did try it for a few hours and learned one important thing, I suck at the combat. Not sure why, just do. I was stealthing and using take downs mostly because I found it easier then fighting. So just giving fair warning, willing to do any type of playthrough. suggestions?

We'll have the wake for your voice tomorrow, just to get it out of the way now

Sounds like a good idea, could be fun

I suspect I will look like an idiot for asking, but can you explain this? I dont follow at all

Trying to emulate Jensen's voice for the 'internal monologue' would be deadly to most voices.

I didn't ask for this

Not sure if you're confused by this or this.

What a shame.

did a sound test, and it seems EVERYTHING is too quiet. yea not just the mic this time. I am going to try boosting the game and PC master volume in hopes this helps.

As for the voice, well I plan on trying to mimic it. I could probably get close, but yea, might not be able to maintain it. So I was thinking of alternatives. I could just go with "its his inner voice so it sounds different" but I had another potential idea. Turns out Adam has multiple personality disorder and all the "options" are really the inner personalities arguing over what specifically to do. Thus I can use a variety of voices. Also explain sudden and wild shifts in personality

I can't really call bs on the differing inner voice thing since my mental voice is a brit so what the hell go for it

I suggest you pre-record the video in this case. And record your commentary/inner monologue afterwards. That would give you some time to think of good stuff to say instead of going "oooh shiny, a quest marker" all the time. Though, if you'd manage to pull THAT off as a running gag you'd have earned my respect.

On another Note: Using an echo effect just because it's an inner monologue probably isn't a good idea, especially if you do it all the time. Sometimes it's too hard to understand. If you still wanna, though: REAPER is a mixing program. It's not freeware, but it's an unlimited, fully functional, trial and it has a nice effect library you could use

Also: This thingy isn't an LP but does the in-character monologue for Half Life.
