Chaos Warriors -- Off topic/Intro
 

Okay, I have been in a few rps, and consider myself savy to their workings. So I'm gonna take a shot at the whole DMing bit.

Okay, to start things off. This is an RP set in the common fantasy world. As such, it has damsels with wardrobe problems, dragons with heartburn, and you are the gallant warriors to kill the first, and save the other. (or was it the other way around?)

Well, that will be sorted out when the time comes to it. Anyways, I should probably explain the character making process.

First of all you roll 4d6 6 times, and subtract the... HEY! Wait! Where are you all going? Okay, lets make this a Qualitative RP opposed to a Quantitative one. Egad I hate it when school gets into these things. Okay, the character making process.

Honest...

Name: (Didn't see that comming now did you?)
Age: (Just for general age reference, 80=old, 18=Yound adult. Minimum age of 14)
Race: (nothing too fancy, elves, dwarves, gnomes, ect.)
Class: (more of a set of guidelines your character follows. Mage cast spells, fighters smack things with large blunt, or sharp objects. Catch my drift? Oh, yeah, you dont have to use FF type classes, you can just be a wizard if you want)
Visual Description: (Basically what your character looks like, nothing new here.)
Character Description: (A little background info on your character, what makes him tick?)

Now, here comes the fun part *evil laughter*.

Now, break your character. In other words, make him inhumanly (or inelfly, indwarfly, ect.) powerful. In this case, you should give your character 1 major power (ie. blasting things in a big area to bits) and 1 to 2 support powers (like blasting single things to bits, or the ablity to confuse people due to high speed talking) I suggest that people try to tie the powers together

Now, to make this even more interesting, add some defects!

*crickets chirping*

These defects don't nessicerly need to be physical. For example, short fuse is a good one. Short fuse with a nasty fireball, mmmmmm... burnt fleash. Another can be apathy. Physical defects can be interesting too. For example, your character can have two heads that constantly bicker. Or your not good when it takes to soaking damage. Be creative. To better show you, I shall create my own character.

Class: Summoner
VD: He is tall, wiery, and wears dark green robes which look like they have seen better days. He has blue eyes, and short cropped brown hair.He carries a well traveled staff.
CD: Will will talk, and to much length, and if you get anything out of him that resembles an autobiography, it will be this. I was born, I grew up, I learned magic, I summon things, I summon squirrels very well, the squirrels and I have come to an understanding, and the capital of Thailand is Bangkok.

Uber power: The ability to summon massive quantities of squirrels anywhere regardless of climate.
Semi-Uber power #1: The ability to command said squirrels.
Semi-Uber power #2: Fuzzy Logic (the ablity to use his own logic to make things sound good, or at least confuse people)

Defect: Will, though smart, often goes on tangents, and fixes things his own way. This often leads to hostilities between anybody who is in his group. Also, he tends to lack common sense at key points, and sometimes turns into Captian Obvious at times. He isn't that physically strong, but has some clout.

Highly unusual at best... But I will give it a try perhaps.

Ultimate Power: The ability to travel from dimension to dimension, and to open up portals leading anywhere.

Sub-Power 1: Is a skilled mage in his own right, and has many other magic spells at his disposal.
Sub-Power 2: If given a short amount of time, he can understand how to work anything, no matter how complex, bizzare, or convoluted, it just comes to him.

Defect: He has multiple personalities inside him. Literally, he stole the powers of other mages, and when he stole their power he stole their personality as well. They rarely break out and effect what he says or does, but they can be a near constant annoyance in his mind, talking and pestering him about things.

visual description: A well built man who seems young for his age. He has blond hair and a fair complexion. He stands 6' tall and walks with an air of dignity and assurance. his eyes are green and he wears a size 12 in sneakers.
character description: Always an intense individual, he dedicates himself to his passions whole heartedly. As a child he was considered anti social by his classmates, yet as puberty set in he became more aware of others existences, especially girls. He now works "behind the scenes" for whatever monarchy/government bureacracy holds sway at the moment. he is an incredible con artist and highly charismatic.

incredible power: the ability to overthrow nations, somehow some way he has the ability to topple governments and destroy kingdoms. he sets himself up as an important official and takes the system down from the inside.

semi-incredible power #1: incredible suaveness, no one can resist his charms, he can get anyone to do almost anything as long as they don't expressly know his intent.

semi-incredible power #2: simple yet overpowering kung fu moves. he always seems to take out the badguy with his patented "kung fu chop" or a wild hay maker. think James Bond (Sean Connery James Bond)

soryy if that doesn't quite work with the setting, he can be a midevil super spy. I almost forgot the flaws, here they go

female obsession, even if he knows a woman is trying to kill himand probably will, he still wants to score with her. In short any beautiful woman will at the very least eat up a lot of his time, and at the worst remove his focus from all else. He also hates unsanitary conditions, to the point where he might blow his cover if exposed to such things.

I think you people are taking the incredible and semi-incredible powers to far...

Look at the maker of the RPs things.

Summons a bunch of squirrels.

Let us compare this to a guy can can basically teleport anywhere, and a man who can overthrow any government.

Then his secondary things are commanding the squirrels and confusing people with a lot of talking.

Compared to a super mage (The second one seems ok), and a guy who can't be resistent and one-hit KOs.

IHMN, you are a party pooper you know that? I think he posted his character for two reasons, one to be an example in form, and the other to be sarcastically humorous. When a normal person says "incredible power" it typically means something earth shattering, or at the least cool and extremely powerful. I think you should let the squirrel find his own nuts, and by that I mean stop trying to make rules for an rp you aren't running. And please don't make your character eat my character, that would be really scary.

Where am I making rules? Look at the first two words of my post. "I think", meaning, an opinion (But really, most posts are opinions anyway).

And if it basically does mean something earth shattering, then this is a god mod RP, which is against the RP forum rules and the thread will be locked.

oh man, you are just testy tonight. "Incredible" and "infallible" are two very distinct terms my friend. It's like calling superman god, he may have god like abilities, but he's not omnipotent. I think you are stretching the definition of godmodding too far, and you are just being difficult. Why don't you try and make a character? It could be fun, a lot funner than trying to rain on everyones parade.

God modding doesn't mean you are literally a god, it means you are an incredibly overpowered character. Superman would be considered god modding in most RPs. He is incredibly fast, is near invincible, super strength, and a bunch of other random super powers. Half of Superman would be god modding.

I'll make a character once the maker of the RP inputs his thoughts in the characters created already so I know what is and is not allowed.
