Warhammer 40k tabletop stuff

OK, having been invited to take part in a friend of mine's 40k group (And him providing funding to get me the codexes and a basic army), I got asked the inevitable question: What faction will I go with?

Now based off my experance and some research, I origionally said "Sisters of Battle", but now that I've done a little more in-depth reading, I'm changing my answer. To Inquistion.

Now, the basic army idea is simple enough, an Inquisitor and some Imperial units. Question for me is this: What codexes do I need?

Just this one.

Keep in mind that "Inquisition" isn't an army option. The umbrella of the Inquisition generally includes Witch Hunters (sisters of battle, ie. the ones you probably want, and the one I linked), Daemonhunters (Grey Knight space marines, they just got a new codex) and Alien Hunters (who don't have an army list as far as I know, but a few Space Marine chapters get Ordo Xenos units as special options I think).

I don't have enough experience fighting Witch Hunters to tell you what stuff to get or what strategies to use, but it's usually more fun to figure out your own army list anyway. The Assassins tend to be lots of fun to use, especially the Vindicare, who you can basically snipe everybody's heavy weapons with.

A good thing to keep in mind right now is that vehicles are king. make sure you have enough ways in your list to reliably kill them

Yeah, and the less said about it the better. Fuckin' Matt Ward!

I, for one, support our new power-armored power-armor overlords.

I found Grey Knights to be good, but not great. i'd rather play against them than an IG leafblower list, or Dark Eldar

Well, might be good to start with just the one, then expand outward as I get more experance then... and hey, if people can say they're playing rogue units of space marines/Imperial Guard, who's stopping me from saying I can't play Inquisition, while using Imperial units in general? :P

They really need to get around to making an Alien Hunters codex. Deathwatch are awesome.

But yeah, I've ben watching a lot of the MWG battle reports over the last year or so, so I understand the tabletop part of the game a lot more than I used to. Been wanting to get into it myself but I just don't have the cash to spend. Personally I'd either go Tyranids or a CSM Tzeentch army. Because Tzeentch is awesome.

Friend of mine just started getting Space wolves too. I am quite jealous.

Bloody heathen. :P

But yeah, today a friend of mine loaned me an IG codex and army, played a quick game agenst his Orks.

His Orks got stomped soundly. Apperentally my skill DOES lie in tactics.

That's heretic, get it right woman!

Also been meaning to ask, where exactly is that quote in your sig from? I can't remember seeing that in the HH novel. Is it a Magnus quote?
