Batman vs Doctor Doom

For those of you who have read 8bt know there was a great debate over who would win a battle between these two, while the outcome was in Dr.Doom's favor
I still believe that Batman could win.Due to the fact that Batman's a good guy,he could simply blow a whistle and Superman would show up to trounce Doom, of course Doom could be expecting this and be prepared with some kryptonite or something to sap his powers like he did with the power cosmic.

not again...

I think that the winner of that match up depends entirely on the circumstances. For example, if they were teleported into some big arena without any preperation a la Secret Wars, Batman would win without question. He could just step behind Doom without being noticed and chuck a bomb at his head.

However, if both of them have time to prepare, it would turn into a battle of technologies. Doom would win in that case because he could just build a super anti-Batman device of some sort. On the other hand, Doom seems to have trouble dealing with large numbers of small animals. Anyone else remember when that mutant Squirrel Girl in that one issue of Iron Man (I think) ordered her squirrel buddies to attack Doom? He got his arse handed to him. From this situation sprang my favorite Doom quote of all time: "For every one I fling away, a dozen more vex me!" Batman could release a bunch of bats to momentarily distract Doom and then take him out.

And I thought the Squirrel Girl was only a drug induced hallucination. At least that would make more sense....My god that thing was horrible.
I believe even if given time to prepare it would still be even, they would both expect eachother so Batman would don some sort of armor, what can you really do to prepare for Batman? The only chance Doom would have is if Doom had the place of his choosing to do battle in, but in some way "That cursed Richards." would be blamed somehow.

I agree that Doom couldn't be all that prepared against Batman. Bats could just ask someone who's fought Doom before (The FF, for example) about the way Doom operates, and he would know what to expect. But what enemy of Batman could really say how Batman fights? The only dirt they could have that would even remotely help Doom out (what with most of Batman's enemies being relatively dumb psychos) is Batman's secret identity. The majority of Batman's enemies could only come up with something along the lines of "Duh, he dodged my bullets and hit me real hard." But if Batman knew Doom was coming, I doubt it would matter. However, Doom is, in my opinion, the second most intelligent person in the Marvel universe (Richards being the first). I think he would expect Batman to be pretty damn prepared. He could possibly create some sort of device that would hurt Batman indirectly, like a time machine and killing him in the past or somesuchthing, so he would win armor or no armor. I mean, when we talk about Doom, we're talking about the guy who had the genius to attempt raising the dead. If they both had a lot of time to prepare, I think it'd be too close to call.

I think the victory would have to be handed to Batman since he's a good guy. The good guy card is always a good defense when you're not "That cursed Reed Richards".

Quick question: does anyone know who the smartest guy in the DC universe is? Batman is pretty damned smart and while he may not be a Reed Richards, in a contest between Batman and Reed Richards, I'd give it to Batman anyday. And if Batman could beat Reed Richards who's smarter than Doom...well then logically Batman would win against Doom.

See Batman isn't a regular super hero, he's a borderline badguy or an "anti-hero". He doesn't play by the same rules as the normal good guys, though he draws the line at killing them. Not only that, but Batman conceivably plays more mind games than Doom does. Doom has pride and Batman could would use that to his advantage.

In the end however, no matter who won, it would somehow further the goals of Doom. That's just the way it is.

Batman 12-03-2003 01:15 PM

He'll just do what he did to Plasticman or something.

Joseph Pandora 12-05-2003 07:30 PM

One thing that must be remember is that batman mainly fight bad guys with no powers and who are simply insane. Doom would kick Batmans but from here to there.

Viktor Von Russia 12-06-2003 08:23 PM

True, the majority of Batman's main enemies don't have superpowers. But then again, does Doom? What makes Doom dangerous is that huge bag of meat in his skull otherwise known as his brain; and of course the technology he creates using said meat. While it is impressive, it's not exactly a "power." And not all Batman's enemies are clueless idiots. Just read Hush and you'll know what I mean.
