The NEW NPF Weekly DJ Thread

Song stuck in your head? Got some music you think the super classy folks at NPF should hear? Got some music that you think the classless lowlifes at NPF should hear?

Here ya go. One post per week. Go go go.

To kick things off, let's have some electro-swing. I've had this stuck in my head all week. IT WON'T STOP.

EDIT: Clarification: One music-post PER PERSON per week. Sorry.

pochercoaster 12-02-2011 05:20 PM

Nice song, Mauve.

I saw these guys live last spring when they opened for of Montreal and they were amazing:

Edit: every piece of embed code seems to hate me, so here's a link: Lemonade - Braids

Both the new and old embed code from youtube doesn't seem to work for me. What's going on? :/

Geminex 12-02-2011 05:24 PM

There you go.

pochercoaster 12-02-2011 05:27 PM

Thanks, Gem! A youtube tag? MADNESS!!! I mean, CONVENIENCE!!!

Gregness 12-02-2011 05:44 PM

This is mostly just today, but I'd forgotten how beautiful this song was.

I couldn't decide between which song to post and Mauve's rules say one post and not specifically one song per week, so enjoy a double dose of Passion Pit.

Back when LBP2 came out one of Passion Pit's songs ("Sleepyhead", not featured above) was in the trailer and that led me to the rest of their songs and I was quickly hooked. For about a month I only listened to their album "Manners" and I still go back and listen to them every now and again.

While I still have the link copied. It's in the Skyrim thread as well, but, whatever.

Arcanum 12-10-2011 02:22 AM

It's a new week! Wait what do you mean you all forgot about this thread? Well too bad. Have some Majora's Mask (remix).

Seil 12-10-2011 02:50 AM

iF YOU DON'T LISTEN TO ALL OF THESE YOU ARE A TERRIBLE HUMAN BEING.

Now, I know other people may have you believe that their Youtube embiddiments are superior and whatnot, but I AM TALKING!

GUESS WHO!

(like a rash.)

Anyway, I've tried to talk about several of my artists, but everyone assumes those artists are like, what, painters or such actual artist nonsense. POPPYCOCK!

Artistry isn't limited to paints, pastels, pencil crayons, crayons... (I do me best work with crayons.)

But here are some of me favorite musicians. (Raffi may or may not appear on this list.)

Ashley MacIsaac - Drowsy Maggie
Bruce Springsteen - Prove It All Night
The Toxic Airborne Event - All I've Ever Wanted
Mumford And Sons - Free My Soul
Florence + The Machine - Only If For A Night
Ra Ra Riot - Each Year At Our Graves
Needtobreathe - Oohs And Aahs
Basia Bulat - Heart Of My Own
Laura Marling - My Rage
Blitzen Trapper - Black River Killer
Vampire Weekend - Oxford Comma
Crash Kings - Mountain Man
Cage The Elephant - Shake Me Down
Charlie Winston - Like A Hobo
The John Butler Trio - Betterman
Matthew Barber - Revolution Of The Sun
Yael Naim - Puppet
Adele - Lovesong

Satan's Onion 12-10-2011 02:55 AM

Medium rare is actually a pretty good call on their part, I reckon.

So hey, this here is kinda fun.

Magni 12-10-2011 10:05 AM

Electric Six has been my new guilty pleasure for awhile now.

Gregness 12-10-2011 02:16 PM

Because positive, life-affirming hip-hop doesn't get enough praise.

Ladies and gentlemen, my work here is done.

Ahem. Now then. More music.

Because I'm pretty sure these two men own part of my soul:
<---It gets good around 1:32

And to keep things classy, have some badass cello and violin. Been listening to this album in my car for like three weeks straight. I think I may have a problem.

Ok I've been listening to The Goat Rodeo Sessions album for the past 5 hours. Nonstop. Like, I don't even want to go and grab my ipod so I can put the music on there because that would mean not listening to the album for a brief moment of time. What the hell Mauve?! What the hell!!!??

And the Goat Rodeo Sessions claims yet another victim.

edIT - Straight Heat

Admittedly, the video makes it better.

pochercoaster 12-23-2011 03:42 PM

Wooh it's friday again! I can't really decide which music to post here specifically, so I'll link a couple things that I've been rotating:

Lissie is awesome:

And for something different:

And something pretty weird and interesting:

Flying Lotus is pretty fantastic if you like dissonant music.

Aaaand a song from Miss Kittin. En francais!

mauve 12-24-2011 04:02 AM

I grew up listening to this song. My dad played a lot of Moody Blues albums, so hearing this one again was pretty nostalgic.

mauve 01-10-2012 03:49 AM

Samurai Champloo had an awesome soundtrack.

Magni 01-10-2012 11:44 AM

You will like this.

Gregness 01-21-2012 09:48 PM

Get yo' salsa on!

Magus 01-22-2012 01:31 AM

Blasteroid, by Mastodon, from their new album The Hunter. My favorite metal album of 2011.

Token 02-01-2012 08:38 PM

Yeah, most of you don't like rap, I don't care, we are getting some Childish Gambino up in here.
Freaks and Geeks

Satan's Onion 02-02-2012 04:20 PM

You say that, Token, almost as though something by Donald Glover might not be perfectly welcome here. You would be incorrect; Donald Glover is awesome :crossarms: .

Anyhoodles! Howsabout a little Poly Styrene up in here?

She was with a neat little outfit called X-Ray Spex:
