"You know Monk, You can always come stay with me." Coyote said. "I can gaurentee no people at all, only the greatest programs ever written. Besides I've done something, and I'd like to share it with one of my fr....fr... do You know how hard this is to say? Friends. There I said it."
|
Still in that one room, Angel whipped out his PDAP and sent a message to Wolf.
It was almost beautiful in it's simplicity. Simply, it read, "heard a comotion, WTF is going on?" Angel then plopped back down in a chair and continued his game of solitaire. One of the techs walked over and said nervously, "Um, sir, I don't think you have authorization to be on the computer." "Yah, I'm really gonna' get court-martialled for playing Solitaire. If it was Pong I could understand, but Solitaire?" |
"I've put your life in danger. I'm shot Jade nurmerous times." He started, taking a pause after Wolf's long-winded monologue. "I had full control when I did those things! I've killed millions of people for sport. Yeah those things could bring a man down. I've put someone I care about in prison again. I'm sure that last place she wants to go! Go away. Go and live happily with society. They will welcome you with open arms, and call you hero and friend."
Coyote finished his short speech. "No, that is all right. I need to be by myself. I'm sure that even with you I could cause harm. Please, I need to be alone. I need time to meditate on this. I'm glad you are all concerned for me, but I am not the one to worry over. There is something much more important that you all must worry about. Leave me be. Let me die in peace." |
time to medidate...fuck that...he's copping out because he thinks he's losing Jade. Wolf thought. Rather than shout, he simply relaxed.
"Monk, Jade is not going to prison for carrying on a relationship with you. And even if she does, that's a bullshit reason to go to jail. If anything at all happens in this trial that causes her to go to prison...I'll make sure she doesn't stay there. She doesn't deserve it...and you don't deserve to live with the guilt of thinking that you put her there. If you still feel the need to leave...then by all means do so...I'm not going to stop you. Maybe one day you can get your head clear enough to come back...and I'll leave the door open for that eventuality. Somehow I feel the general won't be around then to stop me, and Jade if all goes well, from welcoming you back." Wolf turned around and started walking back, shoulders hunched and head down. poor bastard he thought. His PDAP beeped with Angel's message on it. He typed a quick reply. "Monk confessed his love to Jade while on trial. The general's being an asshole about it. Monk's decided he's a threat to everyone so he's quitting and talking off to parts unknown..." |
Angel's eyes went wide when he read the message.
"Well that wasn't totally unexpected." He quickly sent his reply, which stated, "Get beer and pizza into him. Save some for me, and I'll be over as fast as possible to help you." |
Wolf typed back a reply "Thanks, but don't bother. His mind's made up. I've seen this happen to him before...this time he really wants out...and I'm not going to stop him. Hopefully he'll come back someday...but right now I think he needs to be alone.
|
Angel shooked his head and sighed as he typed,
"Nonononono. You aren't listening. A combination of beer, pizza, and at least two friends can kick anyone's mental ass into line at ALL times." |
"Not him. Trust me. Besides...he's so pissed off at the general, he'll probably rip the head off of the first person who tries to stop him from leaving."
|
Angel swore as he read the message. Obviously, Wolf doubted him.
"Fuck confinement, this could be really important." Angel bolted out, and stopped briefly at the caf to grab an Extra-Large the works, and a 12-pack. Then he ran as fast as he could to Monk's quarters, doing his best to not drop anything. He ran past the befuddled Wolf, and knocked on Monk's door via his forehead. "Monk, it's Angel. Can I talk to you for a moment? I brought pizza." He glaned at Wolf and said, "I shall now show you how to deal with an emotionally bitch-slapped bud." |
Jade's head sunk low. She just wanted the judge to throw her in jail and get it over with. Monk was quitting, the whole team was falling apart and it didn't look like she was getting out of this trial clean. "Very well, I have deliberated over the evidence and made a decision," the judge said solemnly.
"Col. LaFleur please rise. I have reviewed all of the testimonies of your colleagues and have come to a decision. While it is true that you are well respected and you get results, I cannot overlook your past crimes as well as the inability of your men to follow orders. The General was able to look past the 22 counts of hacking and your lack of discipline. Therefore, I am hereby sentencing you to only 2 years in a reformation prison. Once you are reformed and released, you will e given back your rank. Is this understood?" Jade nodded slightly, but couldn't believe what she was hearing. The judge continued. "You may now declare your last act as commander of the Cyber Force. I have seen enough to realize that they cannot be disbanded in such a time." Jade thought for a moment and took a deep breath. "As my final act as leader of the Cyber Force unit, I grant a full commission and rank to Kaitlin Vong so that she may be the newest member of the team. Also, I relinquish command of the unit to Jason MacKenzie, he will lead in my stead." "Very well, you will be able to say your goodbyes tonight. Court is adjourned." The General walked up to her as she was being led out of the court room. Jade struggled against the guards who were restraining her. "You scum! Once I get out of jail I'm going to hunt you down and kill you myself." "Go to hell LaFleur." "I'll meet you there." She spat in his face as she was herded out of the room and back to her cell. |
