Don't be a dick.

If you are writing something that you believe may be offensive to someone, stop for a second, look at what you wrote, and actually think about it.

If you are getting angry over something, step the hell back and come back to the argument when you cool down. Or don't come back at all. You don't have to "win" (the purpose of debates, by the way, is not to win) every argument on the Internet.

If someone is being an asshole, that is absolutely not an excuse to be an asshole right back. You are not eight years old and you can be the better person.

If you see something you don't like and your immediate response is to post something snarky or condescending, consider what purpose being a dick will serve.

If you are being a dick, own up to the fact. Do not try to hide behind justifications or the like. Apologize for it, move on, and try to be better in the future. That is part of being an adult.

If you see someone being a dick, reference three paragraphs back. Do not be a dick back to them. That leads absolutely nowhere and we should all fucking know that by now.

And so forth and so on.

I like most of the people on these forums. I suspect most of you do too! This forum has held together for years after it stopped serving any sort of real official purpose. I don't particularly want to see it turn to shit and die because we can't stop being assholes towards each other.
