The youtube tag is funky in chat

(22:15:09) rpgdemon: Woah.
(22:15:12) rpgdemon: The youtube tag is funky.
(22:15:15) rpgdemon: It keeps reloading the video.
(22:15:17) Kyanbu_The_Legen: yeah
(22:15:22) rpgdemon: Maybe we should tell Synk.
(22:15:33) rpgdemon: That it reloads the video every new post.
(22:15:34) Kyanbu_The_Legen: everytime someone posts it does that.

The youtube tag is funky in chat.

Oh, plus if you click the video, your focus gets stuck there, and you can't type unless you switch tabs or something to get the focus elsewhere.

I feel this is still a step above just having a link, but *shrug*.

OK

I went back to the other implementation I had put in there -- using the tag creates a clickable link that opens a resizable window to play the video.

Basically, AJAXChat more or less re-draws everything in the chat display when a new message is added, so I guess YouTube treats that like a page refresh and re-starts the video(s).

Screw that -- how is that any different than opening a new tab/window from a regular link? Went with an easier solution that seems to stop the chat window from "refreshing" and reloading videos (and gifs, as well, if you hadn't noticed that sometimes) [each new message essentially updated the document object, which is similar to hitting "reload" in your browser for elements in that object].

Also the chat source hasn't been updated in at least a year, so maybe there are better alternatives out there***. I can explore this some time when I can play around on the vBulletin addon forum more.

*** holy fuck, they are all so shitty and overblown. We don't need a Java applet, an IRC frontend, or Flash-based chat with built in games and bullshit. Maybe we'll just stick with what we have!

Cool, thanks Synk!
