I will join the DARK SIDE

After years and years of using a PC, I tried out one of these new Macintosh G5's.

I want one, I might be officially converted.

Blasphemer your soul will be tortured in the 7th level of hell for eternity and a day.

Seriously this is kind of a pc world. It is not impossible but using a Mac is going to create problems that you just don't have with a PC. Of course Macs are usually quite a bit more stable. If you feel like trading a few stablity issues for a slightly greater number of compatibility issues thats comepletely up to you. I also like to be able to get inside my computer. I don't see how thats really possible to do as easly in some of the newer Macs.

A lot of it depends on what you do with your machine. I'm a composer, so I do lots of sequencing and notational things, for that sort of work, Macintosh is just better suited.

If I got a Mac, I'd keep a PC around for games :P

What problems? Not being able to play many PC computer games? Oh no. The horror!

Owning a Mac system is hardly Hellworthy. They're reliable, fast, powerful, and functional machines. So are Linux-based PCs and even Windows machines. Each OS has its merits, each has its flaws, and none is globablly better than the other.

This negative spin people put on non-Windows machines is actually more baseless than the negative spin the "techy" world puts on Microsoft.

But, alas, further talk on these lines, knowing forum members, will result in a useless, annoying, and extended "omfg my computer is better than yours!1!1 LOL OMG?!" flame war, which no one wants.

The first comment in my post was sarcasm. Of course thats easy enough to miss if I don't use the [sarcasm] tag.

I said there were compatiblity not that they should keep you from using a Mac.

As long as we avoid mention of our computers this should stay a perfectly good conversation. The first person to repeatedly bring their compute into this for no good reason gets stoned to death.

Edit: Some of that was sarcasm just so everyone knows.

Ah, the Almighty G5. Yes, its easy to be seduced by its powerful swiftness. Aside from gaming and "intense" computer crap, I'd say Mac's are a more perfect personal computer because of it's streamline interface (especially OS X)

Tell me about it! I'm running an i-Mac G3 on Panther and I can't find a single bug!

Windows is my friend. I got an iPod and that is the extent of my Appleness.
It took too long to set up playlists though. especially when a lot of the songs are in japenese and you have to play each one to remember what it is.

Mac's are ok in my opinion. They are great for simple programs and for people who are new to computers. I prefer PC's becasue there's an entire realm of innovation and customization that goes into making your PC your PC. Plus there's the gaming factor, a huge plus even though my PC's old and never runs anything anyways.

Wait... I thought the PC world was the dark side. Eh, I don't really perfer either OS. Windows is what my computer came with, and I would probably brake it in an attempt to install Linux. Macs are too expensive for me. I don't really care that much... I use a browser, mIRC, AIM, and text processors. I occasionaly play a game, but beyond that, not much.

When it gets down the point of which I like using more, I would actually choose Mac's OSX. I like the GUI much better, and the way you navigate through apps is a lot easier than the way you do with XP, in my opinion.

Also, everything Apple makes looks so neat. The mouse! It's... so very... simple. Although, having only one button gets annoying at times.

Eh, whatever you like - they're all good in their own ways. I think. :(
