"Coca-Cola Has 'America The Beautiful' Sung In Commercial" or "Racists Flip Out"

So I guess this thread can go hand in hand with my other "Racists are fucking stupid and awful."

The controversy is that Coca-Cola had an ad that ran during the Super Bowl where "America The Beautiful" was sung in a bunch of different languages.

Apparently that's un-American because the only language that should be spoken in 'Murica is English.

...Is there a parody song out yet called "America The Racist?"

Wow they sure don't know much if anything about our country huh. lol

Wow as a Black man of native american blood, reading those comments actually caused me physical pain for a minute there. Hard to believe that racists still exist sometimes.

i went to that webpage.

Why would you do this Seil? Why would you do this? This is like TVTrops for dumb and sadness....

This is why we can't have nice things.

...So yeah, human idiocy.

If racists had reasonable complaints, they wouldn't be racists in the first place. When you're dealing with people who think that if a tree falls in the forest then the forest itself is dangerous and must be kept apart from people so the trees don't fall on us, it shouldn't be surprising if they reach far and wide to come up with anti-wood arguments.

Actually "racists are gonna shit themselves at this" was one of the first things I thought when I looked at that commercial.

Red Mage Black 02-04-2014 10:12 AM

One of my first thought for the commercial, "Hey, that's pretty cool."

My thoughts after the commercial and racism, "Dude, they're singing OUR song in THEIR languages. Think about this for a minute. OURS not THEIRS. Who cares if it's English or not, it's still ours, right? Is that not enough to satisfy you?"

Bells 02-04-2014 10:27 AM

it really is quite nicely done, even the way the song keeps in harmony even when switching languages. That's not necessarily that easy to do... honestly, if something like this was done here i would think it's a pretty nifty homage.

But then again, you have to understand we are looking at a website made entirely out of comments. Comments are the cancer of the internet. Twitter is pretty much a fast delivery service for massive comment droppings... so that, with facebook comments and youtube comments, and what you have is just pure, undistinguished, internet stupidity.

Never read the comments man... never read the comments.

Coca-Cola always seems to be about bringing peoples together.

Further, you could point out that it's "our song in our languages". That's pretty much the ideal for the USA.
