Anyone playing MH4U?

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate came out on the 3DS recently, and for those unfamiliar with the series, it is exactly what it says on the tin. You murder monsters. A lot. And then cut them up and wear them so you can murder bigger monsters. The difficulty has been likened to Dark Souls. I'm not entirely sure I gel with that comparison just because I hate Dark Souls for clunky, awful controls, while Monster Hunter titles tend to feel more fluid for me.

The basic gist is you never stop having just awesome boss battles. Once you get past the gruntwork of the intro, you can just go fight giant dragon-power-breathing T-rexes all day long if you want. Without armor, if that's your kink. (Hint: That hurts.) Then you make a sword (or axe, or gun, or bow, or insect shooting staff, or whatever) out of your dragon-power-breathing T-rex parts and stab something else. In the face. Repeatedly.

/end relevancy intro for unfamiliar crowd

Anyway, for those familiar with the series, you can now play online with people, without the need to be locally available.

So, clearly, this means if anyone's playing, we should kill something. You know, at least once. It uses the 3DS friend code system, or just up and searching gathering halls. Which is to say: 1564-3058-4468 yo.

This confuses the hell out of me since Monster Hunter felt extremely clunky to me until I was 5-10 hours in and had gotten used to the controls. Not to mention I had to play MH3U on my WiiU since the 3DS controls were absolutely abysmal without forcing your hand into an arthritis-inducing claw grip.

With that said, I would love to play MH4U but I need a second stick for camera controls, and I don't have the money to buy a new 3ds (or even a circle pad pro, if that even works with MH4U). Really hoping this comes to WiiU, but my hopes are low.

Yeah, I tried Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii, and it was just really abysmally clunky. When I complained about this, fans of the series told me that I had no senses, and that Monster Hunter was the only game that ever existed that had good controls.

I then pretty much stopped caring about the series at all.

Consider yourself lucky you didn't play in the early days of Monster Hunter. Tri was leagues ahead of the previous iterations of the game. The one on WII-U is very tight and responsive, even for a monster hunter game.

A buddy of mine has MH4 and has gone into isolation playing it. I am sad I do not have the funds at the moment to scratch that mobile hunting itch.
